OLP on the Hour Holiday Special on CBC 12/21/09

Post by MattCTUSA »

Thankfully, living close to BC, we get CBC on our cable system. Clink the link and check your local time zone. It airs at 9pm West coast time. Looks like the show taped on 12/15.

It will be archived on CBC's website but I can try to record it on my cable... does anyone know if The Hour is broadcast in HD or SD? If it's HD I'm not sure if I can capture HD.

It should only matter if your using the HD feed or not. Is it normally HD? You should be able to tell just by looking.

Yes, I can try. Have to make sure my DVD recorder has the settings Josh suggested, then I can mail you or him the copies.

There is definitely a performance (Blue Christmas by Elvis) but I doubt there will be much of an interview.

George played a clip of Raine (the other guys weren't shown in the clip) singing Blue Christmas yesterday. I'm really excited for this special, and thankfully will be able to see it. I doubt it, but I hope there is some sort of interview with OLP, or at least another performance -- perhaps of an OLP song.

This is tonight! Just a little reminder for myself...for some reason I keep thinking I'm going to forget.

OLP had some pictures up (I think on Facebook) from this performance.

I also assume that the recording of this show is all settled and someone is taking care of it for the American CMers?

I won't be home to record this, sorry, finishing my Christmas shopping... but if someone fails to record it, it will be archived on CBC's website, and I've confirmed that the streams are available for Americans.

Well, I watched it. The performance was good... but I really, really enjoyed George speaking to the band after, about Christmas changing because of the band members having children. He said, "Yeah, in a few years, you guys will be on this special, and your kids will be the backing band." Jeremy: "What? My kids will be selling the Slap-Chop."

If you go to the website...

http://www.cbc.ca/thehour/

you can download all the performances from the show for free. The Metric one is my favorite I think!

Forgot to mention that. Yes, as George put it, "Now you don't have to steal it, like you would've otherwise!" I'll download it right away here.

I liked the Metric performance, too, and that choir blew my mind! I think that if I were a hardcore Metric fan, though, I'd be disappointed, because it wasn't really much Metric. It was more so the choir featuring Metric.

Ohhhh Jer. Indeed :P I definitely think that George is right though. At least about Lucca. He's adorable and already has an amazing stage presence. He's gonna be just like daddy when he grows up.
“Music doesn’t have the power to change the world. What music does is it changes people, & that changes the world, so to say that music doesn’t change people anymore is just ridiculous. It does everyday. It doesn’t have to be on a political or social level. You could be feeling shitty & it makes you happy & if that’s all it does, it’s changing the world. It’s making it a better place.” ~ Raine Maida
