OLP needs to get back in the studio with a real producer ASAP.

Burn Burn is worse than Gravity...

Slightly resembles in parts... but that's one of the best songs off the cd.

1. Signs of Life
2. Monkey Brains
3. The Right Stuff
4. Dreamland
5. Paper Moon

Those are the 5 songs I listen to off Burn Burn. I don't understand the love for Escape Artist... it bores me. Refuge... I think its a decent song, I just can't listen to it... It's weird. All You Did... I listened to it on overload when it first came out... I'm sick of it, should have just released the album seperate with this song. The End... i don't even know yet. It's ok.... nothing special...blah. Never Get Over You, I loved the song at first... I still do, but there's something that irks me. White Flags... high energy... its kind of forgetable though. I HATE Time Bomb, enough said.

As for Raine's energy... I hear energy. Don't jump down my throat yet. I hear energy... it's very very different to anything I've heard before, however. It's nothing like we see live or on previous records. It's like he's singing... and trying to get into it, which he does then keeps the energy in his throat... it's still there, just mutated. I doubt that makes sense to anyone else, but whatever.

The Album's far from what I know and love about Our Lady Peace that I learned from the likes of Clumsy or even from that of Gravity... I'll accept it as it is.

I listen to it more than HIPT and Naveed...

3.5/5

Oddly enough, I write this listening to Naveed.

I pretty much agree with your top 5. Except I like the End Is Where We Begin a lot.

But yeah, Escape Artist is by far my least favorite song on the CD. I don't like White Flags either, mostly for its chorus. Never Get Over You is good but sounds like a Goo Goo Dolls song.

Signs of Life is my favorite so far.

The top 5 I listen to lately are:

Escape Artist
Refuge
White Flags
Paper Moon
Dreamland

I love the drumming on Refuge, though I feel the song could have used a little more energy. It feels kind of muted. They were probably going for that, I guess. Escape Artist I love for the chorus and solo.

Never Get Over You is forgettable. All I really remember about it is "She likes hockey and summers by the lake".

The majority of the album is kind of forgettable. There are some good songs in there, but I don't really see anything that a lot of fans will absolutely love two or three years down the line.

For the sake of the topic keep the professional reviews here, the personal ones in here.

Escape Artist is the only stand out one to me. Everything else is forgettable.

My potential responses to that post, in ascending order of quality:

1. Yeah, it's getting a bit nutty.
2. Well, everyone wants to get their opinion heard.
3. Lists are the best!
4. [Some shitty list-based joke]
I just wanna get out,
Stuck inside of this.

Whee I finally got my copy! I'm only on my second or third listen so I don't have all the songs in my head yet, but so far I am really liking it. Monkey Brains was better live for me because he shouts it better, but otherwise it's a pretty awesome album. I am not disappointed.

//EDIT//

:O Apparently my signature has returned!!

I sadly have removed the new OLP cd from my car cd player the other day. I think that is the fastest an OLP cd has been taken out since a release. Hell, HIPT, got a few months in there. And now that I think of it, that cd wasn't bad. ALS was amazing.

It's not sad if you feel you need to move on. Sometimes the music just doesn't move you anymore. That's your own choice.

I just miss the falsetto. It could make each of the songs way better. I like the cd, and give it a solid 3/5.

Honestly, the falsetto in Paper Moon moved it from a 4.5 to a 5/5.

I think many songs are forgettable on this album. For me, I think I'll still be listening to Escape Artist and Paper Moon 3 years from now. Paper Moon for sure. It just feels....real, somehow. And meaningful.

I always say give me 1 year to know if I will listen to a cd or not..

I can't listen to this cd as often as I might like cause I do not have a cd player around really and it will be a bitch to upload to the ipod i have.. I listen to it online..

I love the songs. I can't get some out of my head. That's me though and I do not expect people to feel the same as me. if you do great. If you don't does not matter to me one way or other.
