Just a few points to mention about Burn Burn...

1. the cover looks like a commercial to Orange.

2. yet, it's the best cover of olp cd ever.

3. unfortunetly, i can say the exact opposite about its contents. probably the worst olp album...

4. the best song is not even in the original addition. "the right stuff" is the best by far, and i'll explain.

5. all the songs sound pretty much the same. same old boring usuall structure of slow start, drums bridge into a predictable chorus. another shorter verse and repeating chorus till the end. if there's a bridge it's bad too.

6. olp became another boring mtv-rock band.

7. feels to me like they sat down and decided they need some money and tried to make radio hits.

8. they blew it.

9. that's because they're good at doing unique and innovative music, but they don't try doing this anymore.

10. "kiss on the mouth" and "better than here" were both better than the whole album.

11. what a waste. my favourite band is getting boring and boringER.

12. by the way, Raine's voice though, sounds now better than he did through all his carreer- which is a good enough reason for me to keep listening to this mediocre album.

This is true for the most part. Simple song structures on virtually all of the songs.

The problem is that they went indie, meaning they're going to not get as much promotion. So that idea doesn't really make sense. I do agree that they sold out at one point, but not anymore.

No, they aren't. Raine is good at doing unique music because of his voice. His voice is gone. They can't really go back to their old stuff.

I'll agree that his voice isn't gone, but I can't agree that it sounds "good." His voice on Burn Burn sounds apathetic and bored the majority of the time.

He still has aspects of his old voice, he just chooses to not utilize it and to kind of waste it.

How is his voice not gone? You think he can't still do a falsetto like on Consequeces of Laughing? If you do, you're fooling yourself.

"His voice is gone" doesn't mean that he can't sing anymore. It means he's lost the qualities his voice had in the past.

He is a better pure singer now no doubt, but if you actually read my post correctly, I stated that Raine's voice made OLP unique. That voice is gone.

That's kind of what I think on the matter. It feels like he's forcing that "maturity" into the music instead of letting it arrive naturally. He goes from a "mature" OLP record, to an angsty clever solo record, to an even more "mature" OLP record? Something really doesn't really make sense there...

I'm not imagining that he sounds totally blah on this album, right? It's occurred to me that he might have always sounded this way and before I just didn't know enough to recognize it (and have gotten too used to the older songs to judge objectively). Raine wasn't always a mediocre singer, right? 'Cause otherwise I'm gonna be sad.

Also, I have to disagree that Better than Here was better than this.

Well, unlike most of Burn Burn, Better Than Here actually has energy and although many criticize Raine's voice in BTH (even though it's only a demo), at least he has some passion in it.

you know what? i used to get all passionate about music and what people thought of a band i liked or what i thought of a band didnt like etc.

then i was in a band and I realized who cares? i was doing what i wanted to do and that pretty much kicked ass! the best kind of ass to kick actually - anyways, i finally realized that no matter what anyone said, they still came and watched me play, they still talked about me and they still cared

and that is when i realized what it all means* - In short, like it or not, if you talk about it, well it did its job

Exactly, so the fact that fans are discussing these things, positive or negative, shows that they actually still care about the band and the music. It's better than just everyone posting, "Ehh... whatever..." about everything.
