Two new songs by Jim...

Post by nelison »

alright last night i came up with 2 songs.. both i think are pretty good in my mind, 2 of the better ones i've come up with of late.. let me know what you think
thanks

Penny Daggers
I came in your room
turned the lights on
told you i knew
exactly what's wrong
I knew from your thoughts
I read from your face
and those violent coughs
as you say...

Don't feel sorry for my health
That voice, it really doesn't help
I was happy where i am
without these penny daggers in my hand

I ran from your sight
sat at my bed
and looked to the night
and exactly what i saw
I knew wasn't great
I felt very wrong
I thought i was beat
all i can say

Don't feel sorry for myself
His thoughts, they don't even help
I was happy where i am
without these penny daggers in my hand

In my hand
In my head
In my life
Why won't you end?
without fear
without fight
without hate
in a world so right, so right, s'alright

Don't feel sorry for my health
That voice, it really doesn't help
I was happy where i am
without these penny daggers in my hand

Don't feel sorry for myself
His thoughts, they don't even help
I was happy where i am
without these penny daggers in my hand

Don't feel sorry for myself
His thoughts, they don't even help
I was happy where i am
without these penny daggers in my hand
thats all i can say...

Something risky

Thank you
Thank you for your mind
thank you for my space
and everything i love
and for allowing us to date
And as crazy as this sounds
Everything's so new
I feel it must be said
that i need to thank you

I've found you
It feels incredable
Every moment cherished with you
is unforgettable
and in my mind, deep with intangeables
the risks we took, are worth the smiles

Thank you
for a new reason for waking
thank you for all of your truth
Thanks cannot be said enough
about all the things that you do

I've found you
It feels incredable
Every moment cherished with you
is unforgettable
and in my mind, deep with intangeables
the risks we took, are worth the smiles

Thank you, for being a friend
thank you, for the hand on my back
thank you, for getting so close
to feel the size of you breath
and as i see through your eyes
and as i see that nothing compares
I feel it's worth the time
to refelect, on why i care.

I've found you
It feels incredable
Every moment cherished with you
is unforgettable
and in my mind, deep with intangeables
the risks we took, are worth the smiles

I've found you
It feels incredable
Every moment cherished with you
is unforgettable
and in my mind, deep with intangeables
the risks we took, are worth the smiles

Thank you
for a new reason for waking
thank you for all of your truth
Thanks cannot be said enough
about all the things that you do

Great stuff man. The only thing I could catch were typos, but that doesn't matter. Good stuff though, I wish I could write like you again....
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

Alive

Finally, I've fell from your grasp
it's time that i never look back
cause you can't see whats anew,
and how i've shed my thick cocoon

So now, you talk but you don't see
how important it should be
to think for yourself,
in the life that I'm living
And I, continue to have these thoughts
of how happiness cannot be bought
and how your ignorance can seem
to make a man out of me

Like Holden, and Harry,
and that man done up in blue
Its how being petrified
is just a sign of being alive
And i'm alive, cause i can see
Truly what i believe.

Now I've become the man I want to be
Now i can see why you bothered me
and now i think it's time to leave.

Like Holden, and Harry,
and that man done up in blue
Its how being petrified
is just a sign of being alive
And i'm alive, cause i can see
Truly what i believe.

Cause I believe,
and it's all i can see
The carrot dangling in front of me
and why I fucking could care less

Like Holden, and Harry,
and that man done up in blue
Its how being petrified
is just a sign of being alive
And i'm alive, cause i can see
Truly what i believe.

And i'm alive, cause i can see
Truly what i believe.

Truly what i believe.

Always
Along the way, along the Canal
Me and you, and long cat-tails
The world is dark, but we wouldn't know
we're too naive, but Is that so wrong?
I don't think so

What will you do?
What will you say?
About that feeling of always?
and the world that's on display?

Around the block, around the town
look at us, and what we've found
My body's numb, but i feel like gold
I'm so smart, but what do I know?
I don't know

What will you do?
What will you say?
About that feeling of always?
and the world that's on display?

Amongst the kind, amongst the bold
we're still here, and how we've grown
my mind's alert, to whats around
I can't help, but wonder my fate
what will i see?

and What will you do?
What will you say?
About that feeling of always?
and the world that's on display?

and i, Can't help
and I, Can't see
but I, believe
in, you and me

What will you do?
What will you say?
About that feeling of always?
and the world that's on display?
About the feeling of always?
always?

A Thousand miles apart
Look me in these low grey eyes
and don't ever come back
and don't look back
I've worked hard at everything I've tried
but you don't care
and you won't care

and I, Wanted to see
our friendship be
something more than this
fucked up thing we call reality

Thousands of miles apart
on this cool September morn
My thoughts of you, ghostly, torn
and you can't even remember
you can't even care

and I, Wanted to see
our friendship be
something more than this
fucked up thing we call reality

Years now past, since we last spoke
homebound now to see my folks
a tiny town for all to see
how much you used to mean to me
and you couldnt even care

and I, Wanted to see
our friendship be
something more than this
fucked up thing we call reality
and I, Wanted to see
our friendship be
something more that a childhood dream
and I, know you're now free
and I, cannot believe
why i would ever care for thee
why I would ever care
why I would...

and I, Wanted to see
our friendship be
something more than this
fucked up thing you call reality
----------------------------------------------------
Life: For Real
Have you ever wondered what can make you cry?

See that bird sitting there
alone now, but soon he'll fly
and see that man with the evening post?
he thinks beauty is what matters most
"what do you think would make him cry?"
That man my son, he wants to die

For real.
For-or real, with darkest regrets
As this world turns the worse it gets.

See that boy, fit with jealousy?
He'll grow old and bitter more
and see that tree, so young and alive?
it'll be hacked down before it's twenty-five
"Why are you telling me this my father?"
So you'll grow old and prepare for the horror

For real.
For-or real, with darkest regrets
As this world turns the worse it gets.

This world, wants you to think
That you'll never die.
So why do we live under all these hate?
This world, wants you to feel
That you're still alive.
So why do we live and forget to think?

For real.
For-or real, with darkest regrets
As this world turns the worse it gets.

For-or real, with my god
For-or real, with my son
but you won't believe that what i see is something filled without integrity
For Real
For Real
For-or Real.
--------------------------------------------------------------

OK the first song was just written cause I felt I needed to get it off my chest, and it's not really one of my better songs, but oh well... the second is um... simply bitter LOL I have no clue why it's so blunt but i think it just needed to be said...

The Tinman
Remembering
the things that I wanna do
and the things that i Wanna say
but now i'm wondering who I really am today.
The stove, well it's barely lit.
but I'm trying to stuff it in.
It's a world of wonder but I'm just a toy
ya

But I can't help but think of what I could have been
and I can't try and be a man made of tin that you want me to be
but as I see the world that was never really there
I realize that i don't care, don't care

Pretending
being a man that you want me to be
and a man who'll be there every day
but I just want to be there when it counts
when the world becomes cold and frail
and the rusted point of a nail
It'll be a world of truth, where I'm just a toy
ya

But I can't help but think of what I could have been
and I can't try and be a man made of tin that you want me to be
but as I see the world that was never really there
I realize that i don't care, don't care

But I can't help but think of what I could have been
and I can't try and be a man made of tin that you want me to be
but as I see the world that was never really there
I realize that i don't care, don't care

Slide behind the Margin
Can you hear that whistle blowin?
It's tellin me not to fight.
you could hurt me with your insults
you could hurt me with your bite
but the words you throw are plastic
melting against my light.

Is this where I thought I'd be?
Is this where You noticed?
Is this how it's gonna end?
Or is this just where it all begins?
but as I slide behind the margin
I wonder when i will be fine

So you knocked me down this gutter
It's actually quite alright
You tried to hurt me with your insults
You tried to leave me in the night
but as i lay all but out of it
I wonder when will you be kind

Is this where I thought I'd be?
Is this where You noticed?
Is this how it's gonna end?
Or is this just where it all begins?
but as I slide behind the margin
I wonder when i will be fine

Now I'm a multi-billionaire
now i feel alright
you live in that gutter
where I laid that horrid night
and as you lay all but out of it
You wonder when will you be kind

Is this where I thought I'd be?
Is this where You noticed?
Is this how it's gonna end?
Or is this just where it all begins?
but as I slide behind the margin
I wonder when i will be fine

Nice. I like!

One question though: why do you capitalize "You" (in mid line) in the chorus?

thanks!

It was actually just a typo, and before you said that I hadn't even noticed LOL
I usually just copy and paste the main portion of the chorus instead of writing the entire thing over again, so thats why it appears like that in every chorus
