Hmm.. so what was the reason he felt uncomfortable just because he wouldn't remember all the lyrics? Couldn't he have just put them on the floor like they did with the '06 Massey Hall concert that went on the DVD?

I do not know what you mean. After the show I asked how come they did not do Carnival. It sounded good in Sound Check. He said I did not feel comfortable. Do not know why.

Nice to know though that even Raine feels insecure at times..

Oh, well I thought maybe you knew the reason why he was uncomfortable doing Carnival. I thought it might have been since he wasn't familiar with the lyrics. In the Massey show I seem to remember they put the lyrics (for some songs) on the ground near Raine's microphone so he could read them while performing.

For a guy whose job it is to sing lyrics he himself wrote, he sure forgets a lot! I bet I know of them than he does!

However, to be fair to him, he never listens to his own music.

Yeah this is what I thought too, but then I tried singing one of my favorite OLP songs without the song actually playing along.... and I forgot quite a few parts (mixed them up with other parts)... it's not easy!

He probably just couldn't hit the high notes in Carnival. I can't picture him hitting the notes in that particular song currently.

Well that's what I thought initially but there are a lot of originally high notes in some of the songs he still sings live today (OMA, Starseed, In Repair), but he still manages to pull them off, albeit in a lower octave it seems.

I think his voice is okay in the chorus but what I find underwhelming is the guitar work (during the chorus), I just don't think it flows as fluidly as it could. Oh well, minor complaint.

I love Raine's "THEY'RE COMIN' AFTER YOU" in the chorus, I think that works great. The "All you can do" really makes me cringe, though, it's just such a weakly-delivered line after such powerful ones. But to quote Mr. Strong Alibi, oh well.

It's an absolutely pathetic line. And honestly it kills the song for me. Musically, I like the song a lot. Vocally I do a lot. But my lord the lyrics in the chorus are BRUTAL. How can anyone sing along to it?

Yeah, I dunno, it's like they're trying too hard to force an old school OLP type song. It's obvious that's what they were going for with Monkey Brains.

"It's all you can do" doesn't really make sense at all. I mean "There's nothing you can do" would fit more, but the other just doesn't make sense.

Think of it as you are talking to someone in conversation.

Witness - What do I do?!
Cop - They're coming after you!
Witness - What do I do?!
Cop - It's all you can do.
Witness - Huh?

I think Raine would feel uncomfortable with Carnival because of the notes, and his knack for lyric memory loss. That's all I can come up with.

Yeah, I'm hoping it doesn't have anything to do with him being embarrassed about the weirdness of Carnival and a lot of those oldies.

I wouldn't be surprised though, since they seem to be tacking on some love song-type lyrics to a few of the oldies that they perform live now... like the OMA performance that just went up on Youtube... he adds lyrics "I'll take you back, I'll take you back" at the end. Is he trying to turn OMA into a love song? :wtf:

Some songs he always adds stuff at the end, like In Repair. I've never heard him alter OMA. Their Massey Live alteration to Clumsy was very nice.
