Burn Burn Leaked?

Okay, if .net releases the whole album ahead of time (kind of in a Radiohead-style move) then I will have a serious dilemma. On the one hand, I've always been one to wait until I can buy the CD to listen to new albums. No leaks. But this would be official!

But I think it's unlikely .net would leak the WHOLE thing, right?

It would be an unwise move if they are at all concerned with attaining much revenue from the album.

Post-July 21 torrents will hurt their sales enough as it is... but leaking the album officially on their site pre-July 21 so that it can be ripped and torrented everywhere BEFORE the release date will hurt sales even moreso.

Unless they don't release it in CD quality.

Like DMB released their new album (Big Whiskey & the GrooGrux King) to Pandora a week before the release, but did it in a lower sound quality. You could still get into the songs and stuff, but it would bug you if you only had that version.

I was gonna say the same thing. No, really!

Honestly, between audiophiles and people who would buy to support OLP/own a legal copy, I think that'd do it. I doubt it'd hurt revenue that much overall. The people who care enough at this point to download a lower quality copy just to hear it probably want to buy it anyway, right? Or at least want to decide if they're gonna buy it? I dunno.

By the way, does the money go straight to OLP this time, right? Or does Sony get some still for distributing?

Even though I have no idea if I'm right or not, I would say Sony would get some of the money. Otherwise, why sign an agreement to distribute it? But OLP will get quite a portion of it.

Yeah I'm sure they will, they made a copyright claim for my All You Did video on Youtube and now it's only available regionally and has an advertisement for the iTunes download of the song. So they obviously care to some degree.

So I too have a Paper Moon vid on YouTube, and a comment on it today was...

this song is amazing, got to meet them last nite at a private radio session, before there concert in buffalo ny.. got a signed BURN BURN cd and the whole cd is amazing. truely great!!! and raine and steve are so amazing to talk to one on one. amazing artist!!!

So it sounds like the CD is now out there.

This one looks to be real, if you go to the mininova page where it used to be it was taken down due to a 'copyright claim'. I bet its out there somewhere, haven't found it yet...
