really loving these clips, some of these melodies sound pretty inspiried. only complaint is that monkey brains would've been a pretty awesome opening track. really feeling the beginning of escape artist. god, an entire month? :(

Dear God, I can't wait. I'm loving these clips.

I feel like a song like "Apology" was a big influence on their direction here, at least based on these clips. I remember them saying that they loved playing that song because it felt so relaxed, laid back, and natural - that they could stretch it out and play it for an hour straight if they wanted to. They've said similar things about the new album, and a lot of these openings really seem to demonstrate that. They're all very melodic and simple sounding, and I could definitely see them stretching out the instrumental parts live.

Also, I don't hear over-production at all. You can definitely hear the acoustic instruments that Raine's talked so much about.

And wow, I've never heard so much piano on an OLP album. They need to bring it on tour and bust "Julia" back out.

I've listened through the clips about ten times now. Each time the feeling grows stronger that this album is going to be amazing. As fans, I don't think we can rush to immediate judgement because we've only heard the first 30 seconds of each song. But I love the vibe of this album. I think it sounds amazing. Much better than HIPT and Gravity. Plus I agree with Trusty, this sound isn't comparable to any other OLP album. I'm really excited.

It reminds me of Hunter's Lullaby.

Although I am really digging all of the clips, standouts of mine are as follows: Signs of Life, Monkey Brains and Escape Artist.

Signs og Life for me me sounds the weakest, so far. But that's with only a 30-second clip.

I loved Hunter's Lullaby, so I like the interesting rythms. However, agree that it would be nice to have more energy to Raine's voice.

I was actually hoping Signs of Life would be WFSTH. For some reason, the name "Signs of Life" seemed like it would accompany Steve's guitar work quite well.

Signs of Life has a really cool vibe. It sounds like territory never ventured into for OLP. I like it.

I'm really surprised by the amount of piano we've got on this album. Has any OLP song (on an album) used piano heavily, discounting the Clumsy intro? I can't think of any.

EDIT: Also, I really like the guitar bit (I think it's guitar--heh) after Raine starts singing in The End Is Where We Begin.

And overall, this album definitely (based on the clips) has a more mellow sound than the others. But I like it. I definitely think I agree with what someone said about Apology, how these seem simpler but more... natural, maybe? Anyhow, I didn't really like Apology, but I'm liking these.

I only got it on the one track. It sounded like it could of been ALL BECAUSE OF YOU Part 2 or something.

Raine was influenced by Bono somewhat. Even though he has other influences that will never change. He is very much like Bono in his writing, but very much different.

Anyway I really am digging those clips. If the whole song sounds like that then this will be a good Rock CD.

I am just happy that Steve is playing his heart and everything else out.. The Boy done good,
BTW I always felt Duncan, Jer and Raine were amazing..
