I'm trying to hold back from forming opinions on these, but damn it's hard. So once again, based PURELY ON THESE CLIPS:
- I don't feel any energy from these
- Too many ballads
- Definitely doesn't feel raw
- Overthoughts and underthoughts seem to be a problem lately
- In the snippets that we heard Raine's voice, he still lacks emotion in anything he sings
I do look forward to hearing all of the following though: Dreamland, Monkey Brains, Escape Artist, White Flags, and possibly Signs of Life.

I totally think you're channeling me right now, I picked up a giant pair of Bose headphones yesterday, rolled one and now everything sounds freaking awesome

I agree, it kinda sounds like he could be reading a magazine while singing. Almost like he doesn't care to even be singing. I am just waiting for him to go "meh." and walks out.

TW, my girlfriend likes the songs. And so do I!
I get the overly-ballady thing some people are hearing, but I dunno. I mean, remember the Escape Artist clip we got earlier? That wasn't exactly ballady. I would be surprised if most of these didn't pick up steam partway through.

You just listed 5 tracks off the album already, hoping that Refuge gets better (which it will) and the addition of Paper moon brings it to 7. There aren't many bands out there that can seriously lay down 7/10 good tracks on a CD. I think all the songs will sound at least marginally better in full.

I'm not saying I won't enjoy the songs. I may not like all of them, but there are a few that I am already getting into. I'm just saying, the album as a whole may not be up to par with what the band has been saying if it does turn out being overly-balladish. Some of the songs by themselves will be great if the album's like this, but together I don't think it will be all that amazing.

Which is pretty much why I gave the disclaimer of "based purely on the clips," which means I get that it's not the whole song.

The End Is Where Begins sounds like U2.. There I said it..
Thanks TW.> You made me a born again Fan. I was so afraid I was not going to like this cd. I still do not like Monkey Brains and Dreamland is on the fence. The other songs I never heard of I can get into.. Happy about that..

I feel love, I feel a power. It comes to me in the darkest hour. And I want to feel it again
