OLP Unplugged

Post by Shanae »

I was on the legalsounds downloader today, and checked to see if they had AYD up. There was a song called "Unreleased" and I downloaded it. It was a live version of Stealing Babies. It said it was from an album called "Unplugged." I'd never heard of it before.

Its tracklisting is:
Naveed
Automatic Flowers
Is Anybody Home
Clumsy
Superman's Dead
Stealing Babies
Starseed.

It appears just to be live stuff, and the date is from 2000.

Is it just a random live recording or what? Thought it was interesting, anyways. It kind of sounds like it was from Molson Center or whatever that was called. It reminds me of those recordings.

No, that is from the Intimate and Interactive they did on Much Music, in studio, back in January 2000. I bet somebody puts that on DVD sooner or later...

I remember that, wasn't that where Raine said that he would never work with another producer other then Arnold Lanni?

Yeah, I listened to it and figured out it was from I & I. "And now, a band that has sold millions and millions of records worldwide, known for their musical depth, Our Lady Peace!"

I really enjoy the performances, actually.

I always laugh when the announcer introduces them by saying "known for their musical depth."

Not saying that it wasn't true or anything, but who honestly introduces a band with that? Known for musical depth? Yeah, that's really going to get the crowd going

Well it's true, can't think of a (widely-known) 90s band with more cryptic, in-depth lyrics than OLP.

Driven has a point though, that isn't how I would want to introduce a rock band.

Very true. Since I guess MuchMusic is the Canadian equivilant to MTV, it probably has tons of teenagers who only listen to Top 40 hits. I've never heard those types of people say, "Hmm, I'm in the mood to hear some fantastic musical depth." It would sound more normal if he would have just listed a few accomplishments.

Much has its moments but I stopped watching the entire thing after Strombo left.

I love George Stroumboulopoulous.

I didn't watch Much for quite a while, but when they released three videos by my three favourite bands in one week, I've been staying tuned. I've noticed that AYD isn't on the MOD Daily 10 yet. If it got a lot of airplay on there, it'd be great to make some waves.

I really like it. Although I can't help but smile when Raine does that falsetto nasal thing in Automatic Flowers. It's just magical...

It should be in the hub, but I got mine through a torrent so I'd search those.
