"Paper Moon" and "Dreamland" clips released by Sony!!! (REMOVED)

Post by Heavy Alibi »

Thirty-second clips of "Dreamland" and "Paper Moon" have been released by Sony!!! (REMOVED)

https://satv.sonydadc.com/sony_atv/cgi-bin/linkAction?username=CJKeBWOLmd0%3D&password=Sot5H1AMmIY%3D&language=OQIbaYUGL2E%3D&parameter=swxhppHP6FA%3D&value=u2bRCELCZkjLCgEUlXzKCQ%3D%3D&type=%2BisEprGvXt%2BeTTEKFCuN6g%3D%3D&xmlresp=xVSRMK7UGsk%3D&fuzzy=%2B25tPCknk9s%3D&region=TBQe1axM6wo%3D&seed=3880

I want opinions!!!

Dreamland - This is the end part where Raine slowed down a bit and went into a lower key in the live PEI version, so this clip is probably not near the best example of this song.

Paper Moon - Loving the vintage Raine falsetto in the lyrics "we can put all our candles under that Paper Moon", and I can't wait to hear more! And Steve really shines in this clip too... I can't wait to hear the whole song.

Anyway, couldn't be more excited for Burn Burn!

Paper Moon:

Dreamland:

I like the guitar build in Paper Moon. It reminds me of another OLP song, but I can't put my finger on which one.

I like Dreamland. Sounds like it belongs on Gravity, sound-wise. Even though it is very straight forward, I like the image it creates...that of someone being so happy with their life that it is perfect to them.

Otherwise, hard to judge of 30 second clips. I remember the Promo Squad days for HIPT...and those changed a bit to the final product. I'll wait for the whole thing

Holy hell. Amazing find. You just made my night.

I really like both clips after a couple of listens.

Raine's falsetto in "Paper Moon" almost sounds country-ish. Both definitely sound different from anything else they've ever done before, in my opinion.

Yes, actually, when you mention country it definitely seems like Paper Moon does sound a bit country-ish. Come to think of it I think I know a country song with either the name or lyric "Paper Moon"... hmmm.

The last end of the Dreamland clip reminds me of Will the Future Blame Us?

Brooks and Dunn - Neon Moon?

Yeah!! That could definitely be it... and looking it up I see Wikipedia says that an "alternative country" band Whiskeytown released a song by that name back in 2001... hmm... don't know

Dreamland has a very 90s sound to it. Not OLP 90s, but more... radio 90s. Which I don't say as a bad thing, because I'm actually a fan of a lot of 90s radio rock. It is what I was raised on, after all. So I like it, even if it's not vintage OLP-y.

Loved the falsetto, however brief, on Paper Moon. Can't speak to the rest of the clip yet. Not sure how I feel about it.

Dreamland sounds like a great driving song, though. Which should be perfect, as my roadtrip will coincide with the release of BB. So I expect much open highway with the top down and my rock music blaring annoyingly.

EDIT: Oh, anyone got a way to DL these, by the way? I tried using Matt's links, but those just gave me 334b files. Is that the right terminology? Whatever. I guess I'll have to try something else.
I just wanna get out,
Stuck inside of this.

it wasn't the falsetto on paper moon that caught my attention. i really liked the calm part afterwards. raine's voice sounds smooth. and the guitar reminded me of happiness.

The falsetto in Paper Moon is nice, although I thought it sounded a little funky, and quite forced.

Dreamland is pretty cool, but it's definitely not anything groundbreaking.

It probably cant tackle anything Spiritual machines or before though.

Forced? He would randomly go into falsetto in many songs. I don't see how its really forced.

I don't think it really sounds that forced, to me it sounds a lot like the parts In Repair and One Man Army, where Raine goes "through the place EYE know EYE'm coughing" and "oh wait, I'M in repair, LIFE that we share".
