Seriously though, people react wayyy too much to one minute clips. One minute of AYDWSML and everyone was freaking out and calling it a dark day in OLP history, and now one minute of "Monkey Brains" and the same people are over-the-top excited and calling this the rebirth of the band. Not that I'm complaining about this recent change, because I've been this excited and expectant all along, I just wish that people had given the band a little more credit to begin with and not drawn so many conclusions based on one minute of their (admittedly) most radio-friendly song of the album.
Raine basically admitted what I'd speculated in an earlier post in his interview yesterday: they've been gone for a long-ass time, a lot of people don't even know they're still together (based on the time that's passed and Raine's solo album), and so they needed to start the album off with a song that would be played on the radio. That's all that "All You Did" was. It's a kick-ass song imo, but its main purpose was to generate some hype and return the band to the public consciousness.
The exclusion of "The Right Stuff" (another song I liked, but I agree that it fits better as a B-side), Raine's admission of the poppiness of the single, his love for "Refuge", and the bad-ass "Monkey Brains" clip all in one day has me even more excited about this album than I already was (and that's saying something).
