“I was really bullheaded on our first record Naveed,” admits Maida. “I remember saying, we are a rock band, I don’t want to hear a piano or a synthesizer or even a tambourine. We were really focused, and that kept it really simple in the studio, and I really love that record because of its simplicity. This [album] is a return to us being a little bullheaded [again].”
HAH! WE ALREADY SAW THE TAMBORINE ON BB!
EDIT: Fans can likely expect more music from the band more often in the future too, as Maida’s home studio will allow the band to release music more frequently without following a set schedule. It also gives the band a chance to be more fluid with their releases, according to Maida, with the ever changing music formats.
Also, I don't think I really believe this. I remember they were talking about releasing a followup to HIPT in, like, summer 06. Because they wanted to do it quick, dirty, raw, blah blah blah. Maybe it was summer 07, but my point stands. I'll be happy to be proven wrong.

It was supposed to be in Summer '06, Fetus. I saw the interview a few months ago, it was from Edgefest. They said they had a lot of songs left over from Healthy, and they wanted to take the best of those, master them, and put it on an album for '06.
Anyway, this is exciting. Although AYDWSML sounds forced, contrary to what they have to say about the songs on here.

If you listen to the full interview (there's a link at the bottom of the page) you'll hear Raine say some interesting things. Particularly the fact that they've pulled "The Right Stuff" off the album.
In his words "because there's something about it that just irks us a bit...its not that we don't like the song but it doesn't have the same kind of integrity that the other ones do".

Thanks for pointing that out, I didn't notice that link.
The interviewer sounded stupid at one point, saying "Superman" was on Gravity. It also kind of bothered me that he said he could see Dreamland on Gravity.
I'm also glad to hear Raine has another solo record ready to be recorded. Also nice to hear that they plan on pretty much stricting headlining now.

Hi. I'm a long time lurker, and I thought it be time to break a habit and start being a poster. Eek - first post.
Just listened to the interview and especially after hearing a bit of Monkey Brains, I'm now feeling really hyped for Burn, Burn (before I was looking forward to it but now it's going to be long wait and it's going to suck hard). Without trashing the previous two records, Raine's made it clear he's a lot happier with things now, that they weren't on the right track before and the music has improved down to that. Now I've heard all that kinda stuff before from other bands but it didn't feel like he was bulls***ing for the sake of plugging the record, but plugging it because he's proud of it. And that has made me more excited to listen to the whole thing than AYD or anything else glimpsed so far.
Whilst I'm glad The Right Stuff has been axed, I did like it in a b-sides kinda way so please can it resurface on iTunes or somewhere - please!

I wouldn't be too worried about the Dreamland comment because Raine just seemed to shrug it off. I don't think he would just tell the guy that he's been listening to the song wrong.
I love the fact that the band's putting their money where their mouth is and backing up the music, I saw an interview and Kevin Smith was talking about the same thing; how directors and actors negate risk by just being paid up front. They paid for the recording, production and video themselves and have to work that much harder to make sure they at least get some money back. It's exciting to see OLP with some fire in their belly again.
The whole band also seems to be digging Refuge, i bet it'll get heavy rotation during the tour.
Trustworthy which song will be inserted in place of The Right Stuff? WFSTH or another song???
