Going to Canada for the first time!

Postby Fabio_kun » 5/10/2009, 9:21 pm

I'm, very, very excited about this. It's almost certain that I'll be going to Canada for the first time later on July this year. I was hoping to go in December, but if things go well I might spend a week in Toronto, during the summer.

I badly hoping that I might get to catch a Matt Good or OLP live... that would be a dream come true. I don't know when in July, hopefuly I'll confirm everything sometime in the next couple of weeks.

I'm so excited about it since I've been an OLP and MG fan since 2000...

My intention was to stay in Canada for around one month, but that won't be possible. only one week in Toronto, then, 10 days in NY. Wish I could also go to Vancouver... but well, I can't complain.

Anyway... just felt like sharing my enthusiasm.

Several? I checked their website and there were only 4. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to leave Toronto to attend one of those gigs =(

Four counts as several.
one, A
two, Couple
three, Few
four, Several

Sorry, it's a huge pet peeve of mine when people don't know the difference!l

When exactly are you going to make it to Toronto in July?
A trip to Ottawa for a day or two should be pretty simple from Toronto, especially if you shop around and get a deal.
I wouldn't recommend Bayfest because OLP are the opening act and I can't say that i'm a fan of Stone Temple Pilots.

While in TO be sure to hit up Eggspectation for breakfast. (Also good for lunch and dinner) Hard Rock cafe wasn't bad but wasn't anything great.

If you want pizza and beer find yourself a local Bostons Pizza joint. If your in a pinch and can't find anything call up 967-1111 for the nearest Pizza Pizza. Not great but it does the trick.

A hotel near the subway is a definite plus.
The Metro and Delta Chelsea are both good picks. (Depending on your budget their around $100 to as much as $150 per night)

If you want to do the touristy things a city pass will save you some cash. CN Tower is pretty sweet as is Casa Loma. The Royal Ontario Museum had a lot of stuff but IMO just another museum.

Didn't get the chance to check out the Science Center or the Zoo.

If your driving do not drive on Yonge st. you will not be able to turn off. York and Bay are your better bets just to the West since theres nothing to see to the East of Younge.

If you can't find any OLPness there's always someone playing at the Horseshoe tavern or Rivoli (Both on Queen st.)

102.1 The Edge will have all your major concert information.

you...just...suggested....boston...pizza.

here's a tip - stay far far away from boston pizza.

in a city like toronto, i'm sure there's much better food to be found. cheaper, too. and there must be something more local and unique to go to.

Boston Pizza was better than Pizza Pizza.

Add beer, sports, good lookin waitresses to the equation and you have a pretty strong contender.

Although for statistical purposes this is comming from my weeklong excursion where I was hotel'ed by the airport and Boston Pizza was close and conveinent after working 10-12 hour days.

Good stuff nonetheless IMHRO

Yeah Boston Pizza is overpriced garbage. Try to avoid big chains like them when you're here.
