We clearly know now who they are targeting with this song, kicking the old timers down a flight of stairs and pissing on our paralyzed faces

So it'll appeal to the young fillies like me? :P I'll judge on behalf of the underaged female population of the country.

Well! i am surprised! i thought it was going to be so much more raw! it ain't terrible! but certainly this song has lost itself in the studio, I've actually went about editing this snippet to make it more like the live version! give it a listen! haha

Hmm.

1) What the hell is with Raine's voice? I agree with the other comments; it's very Gravity-esque, staying in a few notes and in the back of his throat... laid back.

2) Again, agree with the idea that Raine's voice is too up-front and that the guitar is pushed back too far. It makes me think that it was more of a Raine show than an OLP show.

3) The part that really made my stomach churn was, "I'm not dying!" It sounds very, very generic, and like it belongs in an innocent Christian rock concert.

4) The guitar riff in the chorus seems very colour-in-the-lines.

Overall.... I think it's a step above Gravity, and although it is catchy, it was butchered in the studio.

Where as I like it, I am disappointed.

I'm on the same page. If they increased the tempo and the levels on the guitars in the verses, this could very well become bearable. As it is, though, it's pretty hilarious.

Face palms*

It feels like I just lost game 7 of the stanley cup finals in triple ot, right after my goal was called back because it was inconclusive.

No, you're misunderstanding, haha. I'm not saying your edit is hilarious; that's to be expected with the talking. I mean the song in general.

Don't you wish you could go into the recording of a bands cd, hear the final product, and smack them in the face if they royally fuck up what was good music, I know i do.

I think after Bob Rock and Raine's solo album... Raine is too scared to just scream the lyrics like he used to, to the point where you might not be able to understand the exact words he's saying.... I think that's why he slowed it down so much and says the words so clear and slow... it's definitely not a good thing, and hopefully he can get past it.

haha no problems! i just wanted to take out that 'boomy' bass sound and get that tempo speeded up just for my own personal view to see what it would sound like! haha! *i have too much free time* :freak:

well i think another major problem is how we were told this album's going to be a lot more like Naveed was... Except for the fact that when you hear this song it's about the furthest thing from Naveed.

Naveed = Powerful vocals (while he wasn't doing falsetto, his voice was incredibly powerful on this album) and strong sharp guitar, raw and fresh sounding

This = Weak vocals (on top of the rest of the instruments no less), muted or dampened guitar, no riffs that really stick out and buried behind the vocals, and overproduced and generic sounding, it sounds like A LOT of what you can hear on the radio these days.

Even the fans that decide they like it aren't going to be able to go "OH! Now that's something fresh and new or unique!" because the only thing fresh about it is that it's new material from OLP that we've never heard. It doesn't stand out as something that's uniquely identifiable to OLP. It's not something that people would associate with solely them or their sound or identity in the future. Instead, even those who end up liking it will be able to make comparisons of this sort of material much more easily to other similar material by other bands.
