cbc streams dont work outside of canada as far as i remember.. i tried once.. they were streaming the habs.. err no.. it was sens in the finals.. i even found a proxy to use to watch that wouldve worked if the proxy didnt suck the life out of my already shitty connection.

Just download an IP blocker. I use one to view videos from SNL and Comedy Central that are not accessible to Canadians.

Out of curiousity ...I'm buying a laptop today. Would I be able to record from the HDMI (OUT) stream from the digital box to my laptop HDMI (IN)?

Not sure. I've never tinkered with HDMI recording.

doubt it, not unless you have a tv tuner, which are usually only in desktops. laptops don't usually have hdmi in connections, as far as i know. just hdmi out

That's why I couldn't figure out how to record via HDMI!! it's an output on laptops!! not an input!!!
