I discovered the new video via Jer's Facebook. What a nice surprise to see on my Facebook feed, instead of the usual BS I get from my friends.
I actually really dig the bridge, except I don't like the idea that it's in the middle of Monkey Brains. Something with that piano piece and the tone of the whole clip doesn't seem to fit in with the Monkey Brains I know and love from NYE. I'm definitely stoked though.
And go Jeremy. Lovely tambourine skillz.
And actually, ivewaited, I thought Raine was looking pretty damn good for "getting old."

Really? I thought the NYE version was kind of bland and generic. I think the piano adds a bit of depth to it.
Also, I cracked a grin when Jer is playing and just says "... That one sucked."
No, no, I just mean that I don't think the bridge fits in at all, especially because of the added piano piece. I think it's a lovely piece of music, but just judging from the Monkey Brains I've gotten to know from NYE, I think the bridge will kind of seem a little awkward.
Love both pieces, but wish they weren't stuck together.
Oh, in that case, I agree. It seems pretty irrelevent.
Like when other songs break down like that, there seems to be some logic to it, like Superman's Dead. It gets soft with the "doesn't anybody ever know..." but then picks back up withe same/same styled music with the new lyrics. So the bridge builds onto the song. This is Monkey Brains, random bridge, and Monkey Brains (not an extention relating to the bridge).
Oh well, I'm sure it will grow on me, as I love both of them.
I think they might be trying to re-create a bit of the 4AM feel with that bridge.
It's pretty good though, should be an entertaining song. I just wish they'd do something to "Waiting for Something", that song is screaming to be another "Where Are You" style single
Monkey Brains is something I want to hide on my iPod and never let the general, non-OLP-fan public, never know, because it's good enough for me to want all to myself.
This is all I've ever heard of Monkey Brains. I'm so intrigued by that song. The title is very evocative of OLP's weirder stuff, which I love, because when was the last time they were weird? Not for a while, I tell you.
Looking forward to part three. And I feel like this video is a good example of what you were talking about, Shanae, with the guy saying how Raine was really funny, but said everything with a straight face.

Yeah, the Marianas Trench boys kept saying how much of a goof Raine was. And not just Josh, but Mike and Matt looked at eachother knowingly, mentioned his nunchuck skills, and started laughing about how Raine was 'such a goof!'
Good god this sounds gorgeous. I'm getting really excited, even though it'll be a while before we really hear anything. I must quit that.
It's awesome seeing Raine producing. It's about time!
