i watched a documentary on the plight of giant walking and dancing bananas deep in the (urban) jungles of florida's hockey rink ecosystem.. it was touching and sad
i've been on a studio ghibli kick lately, and it's turning me into a useless sap. all i want to do is watch more ghibli movies while sighing wistfully all day.
watched whisper of the heart again today. it's such a sweet movie. *siiiiiiigh*
i thought it was awesome, and an hour and 45 minutes (credits included) didn't feel long at all to me... considering there are comedies like there's something about mary and the 40 year old virgin are both 2 hours long.
It dragged along to me for some reason. I thought the acting was great and there were some great spots in it, but I just didn't leave satisfied. *shrug*

yeah, marley and me was okay, but they made it seem like it was something it wasn't, the whole building the family was way too much of the plot, and it was a two hour movie. i mean it worked at the end, showing that the kids had an attachment to the dog too, but for a two hour movie, the plot really strayed from what it could have been, or what it advertised itself as being.
so does that mean it wasn't just a movie about an annoying cute dog being annoying?
All the previews I saw made it look like a cutesy version of Marmaduke.

it's not based around the dog at all, except for the parts you see in the preview, and near the end. it's more about the two main characters, and how their relationship grows, how they have kids, issues with their jobs...with the dog thrown in for good measure. the dog sort of gets lost in the middle of the movie.
