Haha, I love hearing OLP music in public places... just the other day I heard One Man Army on the radio.. haven't heard that one on the airwaves in a while... all you hear today on radio is "Innocent", "SOT" or "Life" (and now sometimes "Starseed" on those classic rock stations).

By the way that reminds me of something that happened in High School I don't think I've mentioned... in English language arts class our teacher always selected songs with deep meanings to play in class every 2 weeks or so, and the class would have to decipher the meaning.

I mentioned to him "Thief" by Our Lady Peace and he played it!!! It was so awesome, the whole class loved it! The lyrics are so powerful. (My fave OLP song BTW).

I wish our teacher would do something like that for us. Nobody in my class would really understand what the music meant, but at least my teacher would get to hear it. She's a huge music fan (more so into folk and acoustic stuff), so her and I are like peas and carrots. I'd probably ask the class to interpret Naveed. (The song.)

During the summer, when I actually got into Raine's solo stuff, I was really excited when I realized that she'd probably be into it. At school one day, I said, "Hey, I found some music for you! It's by someone you wouldn't expect to do this kind of music, really, but it's folksy spoken word kind of stuff. I really think you'd like it."

"Oh, who's it by?"

"Raine Maida."

"Isn't that the lead singer of Our Lady Peace?"

"Yeah! He is. But I swear. His solo stuff isn't a more mellow version of OLP."

It was cool...

Hmm... I think some of our newer Canadians may not be quite understanding that hearing OLP in the US is well... it just doesn't happen. :lol:

The Scrubs thing and the 24 Hour Fitness thing (cos I'm assuming they have the same music pumped into all their locations by satellite), HUGE.

I hear OLP a fair amount over here. Lots of Superman's Dead and Angels/Losing/Sleep. For a while I heard Naveed and Starseed very often.

Well, in the US, OLP is NEVER on the radio, unless you live in a border state with Canada. You're pretty damn lucky if you find someone who's at least heard of them.

From what I know, US radio stations don't like Canadian music very much. I think all I heard when I was down there was Avril Lavigne and Nickelback.

Yes.

Literally, before that... I had only heard OLP on the radio once, but that was on a trip to Canada so it doesn't count. And I think I heard Innocent in a store back in 2003ish once. And that is IT. So hearing 2 OLP songs in 2 days is just ridiculous. Someone at 24 Hour Fitness must be a fan.

They actually got a lot of play when Clumsy came out on my local radio station, and where I live now isn't anywhere near Canada (I'm several hours south of Montreal, and about 6 hours away from Ontario). It's a good thing too, because otherwise I'd never know who they were!

I hear them every now and then, but if I want to hear them more often I have to call and request it and then sit around listening to the station for the next three hours

I heard Naveed last night. I remember when my alarm rang one morning, the radio played Innocent. After that, the DJs started talking about how they missed old OLP and wondered why they changed their sound. They concluded that it was Chantal Kreviazuk that ruined them.

I think Chantal looks like a darker-skinned version of Angelina Jolie.

And I don't think she had anything to do with it, either, really.

I think she's way prettier than Angelina Jolie. Never really understood her appeal, but Chantal... I understand that.
