I'm just so annoyed with all the bitching, especially about an album that hasn't even been released yet, and we've only heard two songs that might not even be on it!!

For the record, I'm not bitching. I like to think I've been a pretty big proponent of cutting out a lot of the negativity surrounding the future of this band.. With that said, though, Johnny asked who wasn't excited about new music. And I won't lie, I'm not. Does that have more to do with me than the band or the music itself? Yes, absolutely. I'm not saying that I believe that this record is going to be absolutely abysmal and that we should all just resign ourselves to disappointment, but that I'm just genuinely not as interested in the band anymore. Sorry if that seems super negative but I was just responding to the question.

I think that may just be an east coast thing, to be honest. Halifax is obviously a little bit better off in terms of the type of acts that come around but when most bands that you'd be interested in seeing don't ever actually come to your city, you tend to just go to a show because it's a show.

You're missing the whole point.
There is a lot of music I love and care about and will go see live. I just don't care what the band does. To me, being a fan and liking the music has nothing to do with caring about what the band does. 90% of the time, I have no idea that my favorite bands have new albums out until I happen to see it in the record store. I'm a fan of the music, not the people.

okay Sarah I got what you are saying.. you are not of a fan girl mentality and couldn't care less what toothpaste they use or if Duncan wears his hair in a pony tail. You like their music el finito. I think i must fall somewhere in the middle. I do know people who like their music that wont come on here for the same reason. That the whole fan thing is a bit too weird.
My interest in their normal day to day existence is probably more than a lot ( hopefully not in a creeper stalker way but in a you are a human sharing the planet with me way). eeps i am sounding pretty much fan girl like

I don't think there's anything wrong to wanting to know more about the musicians you listen to on a regular basis, trying to humanize them. *shrugs* Now, thinking they're like "gods" or better than everyone else or whatever... THAT's messed up, but I don't think anyone here is like that.
