I'm not. I think I posted that a little while ago.

I'm really excited for a tour. New music? Not so much anymore.

Such positivity on this board!

Johnny. We all know you don't care about them anymore. You don't have to start threads about it. :P

what i find amusing is so many people echo your sentiments, about both OLP and solo endeavors, yet when the band, or solo's are playing seems everyone is paying and going to the shows.

either you don't care zip nadda, or you do. The difference now stemming from the fact that you have matured enough that you don't have the same zip and enthusiasm to discuss and debate what may lie ahead.

I would say I am certainly looking forward to the new stuff. I'll be the first on my block (Possibly State) to have the new album.

But at the same time to echo Christine comments. At my old age I fear I may not have the same zip and enthusisim in me about it as I once did.

Stupid old age

umm, no.

There is a big difference in going to a show and getting excited and having a good time, and going to a record store and getting excited about listening to a new cd.

completely agree with you Sarah. Going to a show, especially with friends, is way more fun that buying a cd.
But
I would argue that if you really didnt like the music you wouldnt go to the show.

Yeah, exactly. There's the whole nostalgia aspect of it that's tied along with the experience of going to a show. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'll definitely buy the record but it's not as if I'm frothing with excitement over the prospect of hearing new music. Maybe it's just that my excitement over the possibility of a new Tegan and Sara record or a new Placebo record in 2009 makes this pale in comparison.. But the music just isn't as interesting to me at the moment as it was a few years ago. Does that probably have more to do with me than the band itself? Absolutely. There's nothing I can really do to change that, though.

I do like the music, though.

It's just that there's a handful of bands that I'm now far more in love with than I am with Our Lady Peace.

I think that's a gray area. I've seen to many people who go to concerts so *they* can be seen, rather than the band. It's just a place they can go to crowd surf their monkey asses onto unsuspecting music lovers below, time after time. They are also the same folks who throw random shit at the stage or off into the crowd. The same people that should be thankful I can't take a rifle to concerts.

Liking their old music, and perusing their new music are still different things. Why can people honestly not care what lies ahead and what they will do, and still want to see them in concert?

Besides, what does admitting to liking the music have to do with what you just commented on? Buying a CD doesn't mean you are fanatical about them. Furthermore, there are a TON of bands I would see in concert. Do I give a shit about what half of them are doing? Nope.

Some people still like the music, and just don't give a shit about what the band is doing anymore. It's okay to think they made good music, now they don't. Discussing and debating what lies ahead doesn't have ANYTHING to do with going to another concert.

definately excited for it. they've given me too much great music over the years to not look forward to it. hopefully the next album suprises the people who've been disappointed with the past two albums...

I think it's almost impossible for a hardcore fan of "classic OLP" to look forward to a post-HIPT album as much as they would look forward to a post-Spiritual Machines album... but I'm still very anxious to hear the album.

I'll definitely have butterflies in my stomach as I push the CD into the tray for the first time... though it may be more of a nervous anxiety than an excited anxiety.

don't know how to respond to that one Sarah. You go to concerts of bands you don't like. Thats cool. I can't afford to do that, so there lies the difference.

anyway back to not caring what OLP are up to

I'm a hardcore fan of classic OLP and I still look forward to every single album they put out, just as giddy and excited as I was the first time I ever heard them on the radio and made my dad drive me to the mall so I could buy Clumsy.

I'm so sick of the negativity around here! Why can't you guys think positively about this upcoming album for once?? You were all so positive about a couple of the songs released, I don't see the problem here.

I wasn't! But I am looking forward to the album, regardless. I try not to count my chickens before they hatch.

I <3 OLP.
