OLP performances on YouTube from the War Child event

Post by Heavy Alibi »

Check this link for all recently added OLP music vids at YouTube:

http://youtube.com/results?search_query ... e_uploaded

Some include:

Is Anybody Home?
Clumsy
White Flags (full... and by the way it's White FlagS, plural)

and other random vids of the event

Enjoy!

**UPDATE**—There's now a new vid from the event of "In Repair". I think Raine does an excellent job of reaching the "I" high notes... as in "I have been good, I understood". And he does a sweet job on the song overall. That particular vid is here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=nVK6qlvjl_w

The one that says "Our Lady Peace Toronto" is Innocent.

And I wish the people would stop singing in some of the videos, can they not notice there's no mics, it's a lot harder to hear them lol. But it was kind of cool seeing an acoustic White Flags.

I was going to mention this. Nice that Raine's starting a yearly trend for charity. Hopefully they made a lot of money today.

It's not really a new trend, he and Chantal have been major supporters and campaigners for WarChild Canada forever. But yes, it's a good thing that people are taking more notice of it now.

I meant the busking as a trend. He only started that last year.

Sabrina and I recorded a few songs, Right Stuff is one of them but it was outdoors and I don't think it'll sound all that great. We just used our point-and-shoot camera. I'll post them on youtube and link them all here when I get home :)

Right Stuff doesn't seem as annoying in the acoustic performance, but that chorus still irks me. Clumsy sounded good, but it would have been even better if Raine busted out the kazoo. XD

Also, I noticed Raine's hitting the falsetto notes better than in recent years, you can tell when listening to In Repair; the chorus, and the part where he does it for the "We're always in repair.."

I recall some fans doing that a few years ago at a concert in Vancouver...

Agrees.. It was nice to see Raine play guitar on that song again. He stopped in recent years.

I put up the direct links in the Warchild Thread.. There are two vids of interviews from the morning..

I agree with Matt. Wish people would not sing along... At least not loud enough that if you post it people hear you.

I get annoyed at people singing along, but I would never call someone out on it at a concert I was recording. I always want to capture a perfect recording, but I also don't want to hamper someone else's concert experience. I do, however, hate crowd surfers, mosh pitters, smokers, pot smokers, beer drinkers who spill their drinks all over the people closest to them, fucktards who feel compelled to throw objects towards the stage and/or band or others in the crowd, and people who feel it necessary to talk through an entire concert. All of those people deserve as many ball and titty punches as can possibly be dealt in the alloted performance time. Their concert experience shits on everyone else's.

Irked or not, it's beautiful to see Raine and Steve play like that. You can tell it's real. They're feeling something. Which is encouraging

I have nothing against that either( the people singing around you)I meant if you are recording and you know you are going to post it somewhere. Then you should keep the volume low. Most people do not like people who sing along. I do not really care one way or other cause I sing at shows. If someone is recording though then I try not to sing loud or loud enough to be on teh tape..

The thing I hate the most at shows is the non stop crowd surfers.. The same person who comes over your head again and again and again> it gets annoying. I never interfere with someone else having a good time.I just find those people annoying and they interferre with others trying to have a good time..

I agree with all you say.. I have had beer spilled on me, I even had someone actually urinate against the back of my leg at a festival. It took all I had in me not to kick him in the balls. That is people though. Some people get rowdy and act all stupid at a show-while others are trying to enjoy it. I just go with the flow. If I feel it interfers greatly with my enjoyment or those around me then I will call security.. Why should you let one person ruin the experience for others.

the right stuff is catchy for sure, and at that point Steve could no longer feel his fingers ( i suspect the same is true for all of them) -- it was so cold in parts of the day, then it would rain, and they would stop busking, then the sun would come out.

haha i can see me in white flags - just as the rain started again.

the last venue, in the mall, Steve was rockin out! it was great and of course Raine forgetting whole verses!

I have a problem with people singing when they're unnesecarily loud and squeaky and on the wrong notes/off key. That in your ear can completely ruin a concert. Especially if you're sensitive to that kind of thing. I've given death-glares for that before. or made loud comments about it as if I think they can't hear me...
But if you're a normal human being whose voice can't easily be heard over the blasting guitar and bass in an arena, then no objections here.

But being on topic, is there any word yet on how well the event went off? Lots of money raised, good reaction?

Man... I sing badly and loudly. And piss off people. And jump and talk and yell and scream and make wavy arm movements.
I'm pretty sure saman hates me.

I'm glad other people can see that the band seems way more excited and into it than they have been for the last few years. It's like they are genuinely happy to be playing their music again. I remember the last time I saw them here they opened up with Picture, and that really just speaks to the different energy they had.

I've never ever seen this, so I find the thought of it hilarious. It's almost ridiculous to visualize something so stupid.

I sing loudly, and jump about too, but I think there's a time and a place for it. I mean, if you're front-centre then you're good to go, as pretty much everyone else is doing that too, but if you're out at the back, and everyone's stood stock-still and you're going fucking mental, then that would be annoying.

It all depends on the artist and respective crowd as to how you should act, really.
They said: "There's too much caffeine in your bloodstream, and a lack of real spice in your life"
I said : "Leave me alone, because I'm alright, dad. Surprised to still be on my own..."
Oh, but don't mention love. I'd hate the strain of the pain again.
