Want to try taping a gig? Thinking about starting a gear loaning program...

Back when OLP was touring in 2005-06 I came up with an idea to get some extra recording gear that could be loaned out to CMers, and even loaned some gear out for people to use at a few shows, but now that I'm out of college and have a steady income I think I am able to take this a step further. If you're planning to see OLP when they come your way, and you're interested in taping a show please reply or PM me and let me know the following:

What cities/metropolitan areas/states/provinces are you most likely to see OLP in?

Do you normally sing along at shows, or cheer/scream during songs?

If you do normally sing along, are you willing to be quiet or at least tone it down for better recording results? I wouldn't want to take away from anyone's experience if you want to sing, but this is something I would like to consider if there is enough interest in a loaner program that I can't accommodate everyone.

Are you able and willing to get the recording equipment mailed (priority or some fast service) to the next person within 1 or 2 days of your show? And the tape of your show mailed back to me for transfering, editing, and sharing? Timing will be crucial to make this successful. You will also need to pay the shipping costs to mail the equipment to the next person. I will pay the initial shipping costs to mail the equipment to the first person... that will keep things simple.

In the (unlikely) event that you are stopped by security, can you keep your cool, be reasonable with the venue staff, and try to negotiate with them so that either you can store the equipment in your vehicle and reenter the venue, forfeit the blank tape, or coat check the equipment and pick it up after the show?

i am a screamer - just cause you asked.

seriously I would be interested in taping but I tend to go very close and know that the soundboard location is generally much better post and I have been known to let out a ululation if i am duly moved by the music. In general it is not horrible but unpredictable at the very least.
Of course if i were to record I would know that I was working and willingly submit to the restrictions required from the job.

Aww, well that's sad! No need to feel like you're at work just cos you're recording! I still have oodles of fun at shows when I'm recording. I still dance and have fun, I just have to lip sync instead of actually sing, which is probably better (for everyone around me) anyway. :lol:

I usually sing, and I "woo" a lot. But I refrain from singing, and keep my "woo"ing between songs when I record.

And, thankee, Joshers. :O Are you guys still in Oregon? Cos if you could ship me my Oli stuff now, I'd be quite happy. :mrgreen:

These things really don't seem to like going through the mail. The one he lent me before stopped working right, too.
