I've always used the clay stuff but I have thrown so much in the trash, usually in plastic bags too because you don't get paper at most stores.... not to mention apparently the clumping stuff is bad for kitties' health.

Be careful with pine - my sister decided to try it for her cat, and it turned out the poor kitty was allergic to it (fairly rare, I think, but keep an eye on your cat's health after switching).
i love the fact that you can pose your kitties. how sweet.
i admit to using clumping, although it would clump is i had a cat that actually was into covering her output. Instead she stands with her feet on the edge of the box scratching at that.
