*sigh* By saying that it's "just music", I wasn't implying that OLP are just another band. They mean the world to me as well. All I'm trying to say is that striking up an argument about this (again. for what seems like the thousandth time) probably isn't warranted.

I know this is a hard pill for some of you to swallow, but we're just fans and they're just regular guys that make music. We just happen to be some of those people that have enjoyed the majority of the music that they've created thus far. Were the last two records spectacular? No, not so much. But if that's the type of music they want to create, then great. There's really nothing I or anybody here can do to change that.. So please, just chill.

Honestly, if I never had to hear the name, Bob Rock, again in an OLP-related community, I'd be an exceptionally happy man. You're beating a dead horse. Give the poor colt some dignity.

Srsly. Except...I'm not a man. So I'd be an exceptionally happy woman.

I think I'm defending him because I'm passionate about OLP and his contribution to it, which I do have high hopes for and I'm pretty positive that he can do it. I don't see that as excessive, and I don't really see you "tolerating" my arguments either since you're so vehement about me being hostile and my criticism not being real.

Well I don't really get why you feel the need to defend him? He's not being attacked. If you're excited about his role in the new album, say so, but there's no reason for you to get arsey when others don't feel the same way. We're all passionate about OLP, otherwise we wouldn't be here, but I still have my concerns.

No worries, I'll take over! :P

He wasn't striking up an argument though was he? He said he wasn't sure about what Mazur will bring to the table - if that's provocation for an argument, you need to relax a bit. I'm not out for an argument either, but I've agreed with MOL's posts, and felt the response was a little uncalled for.

If this is how you feel then maybe you should take a break? I barely get on here, so if there's a chance to add my opinion, I will. It's not like I dragged up a 10-week year old thread either, if you're unhappy this is being discussed *again*, you might try avoiding the thread where he's been talked about for the last three pages, or y'know...skip over them?

What Steve brings or doesn't bring to the table on this cd should not even be an issue.

I just want the band to release the best rock record they can for them..

I have no doubt they will all sound amazing on it.> WHile I feel Gravity was a stepping stone for them. I think the last cd was filled with alot of brilliant songs.. I love the last cd. I think they did a good job with it and personally think it is up there with their better pieces of work..

That is how I view OLP's cds. Just another piece of their work in a long career.

I feel love, I feel a power. It comes to me in the darkest hour. And I want to feel it again

Why shouldn't it? He's a new guitarist who's yet to prove himself to some of us. How that "shouldn't" be an issue is beyond me...

So does everybody else, surely?

Right, well - great! I prefer HIPT to Gravity, but it's still one of my least favourites. If you're happy about the new direction then all power to you, but not everyone is (I'm hoping it was the negative influence of Bob Rock) and unless this forum has now become a dictatorship, we're allowed to speak it.

Your more than welcome to speak all you want.
It just doesn't look like your going to find anyone with the same viewpoints on Steve as you do.

Steve has work on 4 albums, and had been part of the band for 6 years now. He's no longer a new guitarist. What more does he need to prove? That he can create lots of crazy ambient noises? Can you tell me the things that he is needing to prove to you?

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this is all nonsense and poppycock!

And suddenly, the woman's voice on the tube comes back to me, and all I can hear is "This train terminates at Cockfosters."

*hopes someone gets why that's funny*

Give it up Laurel, he's never going to change the bad spelling habits he has.

Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.
