Raine wrote:This record was the complete antithesis of what we've done on the last two records we made with Bob Rock in Maui, that just did not suit me at all.

Hmmm...

Also, this article says that the U.S. release was internet-only! Maybe that's why I couldn't find it. Lame :(

Raine wrote:Every time we've gotten together -- it's been three times now, and we've recorded seven or eight songs -- the only way for us to describe it is that it feels like we're making our first record. It feels like when we were in our garage writing. Even though we knew we had a record deal, you have that kind of attitude where you really don't give a shit, because you don't know anything yet. You're still totally naive. That's a really great place to be as an artist.

I love this quote. I think it makes me a little more hopeful for the new album - that maybe they're going to sound like they used to, although including Raine's new stuff and sounding completely different.

Here's to hoping it's a mega fucking awesome album when it finally gets here!

i don't think they need to sound like they used to. they need to make good, unique music, which is what they used to do. so i don't care if it sounds like clumsy or happiness or whatever...as long as it's good music, whatever that may happen to sound like.

I just think she should go back to PRE-NAVEED sound. Indie as fuck. That would be sweet.... maybe. it wouldn't do well, but I'd buy like 10 copies.

Good to see that he admits that they sold out at least a little bit, and that they're through with that.

He never mentioned selling out. Can you cite what part led you to draw that conclusion?

Good article, though. Thanks for the link Christine.

...That's pretty much exactly what I said. By "the way they used to" I meant "good".

Anyways, the good news here at least is that good 'ol Bobby is finished...so I think it's pretty safe to say that their new record will, at the very least, be an improvement over their last two.

I think they should ditch Raine and get a screamer. \m/
