ihatethunderbay wrote:So I just got a PS3. It came with a Blu-Ray (either POTC1, POTC2 or Bridge to Terabithia so obviously I got POTC 1) and we got a cheap deal on a second controller (half price!). My dad still needs to buy the HDMI cable but still I am impressed with this machine. It runs so ridiculously quiet, it's way quieter than my PC and even my PS2. I'm holding off on buying any games till some better stuff comes out, so for now it's serving as a Blu-ray player/DVD upscaler. I really don't want to drop the dough on Resistance or Motorstorm since although they are fun games, they're not my kind of games (for an example of how stingy I am, I have had my PS2 for well over five years and own 6 games for it).

You totally need to purchase more games for the PS3; get your money worth outta the sucker. Its only gonna be a matter of time before Blu-Ray players, standalone, go down in price.

Congrats on picking that thing up, though. I'm not Sony's largest fan, but I can tell when people like 'um.

You better pick up Killzone 2 when it comes out. Otherwise you should sell it.

I have a feeling I'll be doing a lot of renting. The problem with next gen, for me anyways, is the flashy graphics are so distracting. A game like Motorstorm, for example, looks amazing and I'll think 'oh man I gotta get that' but I really need to sit down and give it a couple hours of play before I decide.

Killzone 2 looks amazing, but I'm not a huge fan of FPSs so I'll probably wait on that one. I'm more looking forward to the RPGs. Squeenix is king at presenting 60 hours of a visual feast. I'm hoping they'll do better on the story end this time around though (I'm bored to tears by FFXII, so hopefully they do something on par with FFX or-- and here's really hoping-- FFVII).

So far my "At least Rent or maybe Buy" list is:

FF XIII
FF Vs. XIII
Assassin's Creed
GTA IV
MGS 4
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Lair
LittleBigPlanet(?) -- I forget if this one is a download or not
Rock Band -- at least.. part of it. I definitely can't afford all the instruments, heh

Right now the downloadable demos have been keeping me occupied. I've been going through the Gran Turismo HD demo.. jesus christ that thing is stunning. My mom thought the opening cinematic was actual footage of race cars.

I dunno, GH3 doesn't look as cool as Rock Band.

Besides, I think most of my friends are intent on getting Rock Band, so we can split the cost anyway.

I guess if your friends are getting instruments, but if you had like no friends and were only getting one instrument, it's the exact same as guitar hero, so there'd be no point in getting rock band.

Waste of money! if you get another one for free, buy a wii when you can find one, or a ps3, because you'll get your 360 repaired for free. Plus, if you're gonna drop 400 bucks on another 360 wait for the smaller chips that use less power, so that they dont overheat and you wont need the huge power block either.

get a PS3!

Seriously, bash Sony's marketing all you want but the PS3 is one solid console. It's like a tank that is also whisper-quiet.

Did you get the RROD on your 360? 'cause the new warranty covers it and all.. so.. yeah, there's no point in buying a second one. Either get a different console or.. I dunno... upgrade your PC for gaming?

Well, a power surge fried my 360, which resulted in the three red rings of death.

Johnny; if you're seriously just going to purchase a new 360.....IM me or something.

I have a very strong interest in purchasing your busted-up 360.

Well yes, I am serious about getting a new 360. But hey, if I find a Wii, I may very well buy a Wii.

And why would you want to buy a busted up 360?

Well....I should probably be able to turn it in and get it repaired; one way or another.
I have a family member that I would seriously love to get a 360. I think I could get it working one way or another.

Let me know. I'd seriously consider striking a deal with you on it.

Hmm, well since I've been tearing my way through the 360's lately, I may have to keep one as a backup. haha

I dont know what to do. I'd love to have a Wii, but I cant find one. And I am getting quite bored sitting around all day and not having a game to play. And a sad as this may sound, gaming is my principle hobby aside from guitar.

Its not sad, J-Hova. I'd be lost, too.

Well, if you decide to keep it thats totally cool. However, I might be able to hook ya up with enough money to still get the Wii....to buy your 360. Just let me know. I'm seriously interested, dude.

Well....if you got some money for your 360; you'd have the money ready for when you find one.

I'm impatient, too. When a new game or system comes out; I want it on day one. You just have to be patient, though.
