Microsoft (xbox) owns Sony's PS3 Europe launch!

Post by Neil »

Even if you're not a gamer, you can find this situation completely amusing. I'm not one to be in favor of childish antics, but wholly crap did this have me laughing. I only wish I could've seen the faces of some of these Sony PR reps.

Here's the article, but for you lazy peeps I'll summarize high points.

For one, Team Xbox handed out chairs to the weary/tired people waiting in line for hours for their PS3. On the chairs, was a link to this site. Go to it. Enjoy.

Next, they sent SMS text messages (in french) to game journalists; which translates into "The xbox 360 team wishes you a good night.

Also, in the harbor a PRETTY SWEET boat went by.

Paris' launch expected 3000 plus people, and they wound up with about 40 people; security still turned people without invitations away! haha!

Regarding the sales. The article further states that:

Apparently the gloves are off in Europe, and it seems to be working. At French events, one store sold 50 consoles out of 1000, and another store sold 300 out of 1000. At the massive under-attended event at the Eiffel Tower, where they were told to expect 3000 people, roughly 40 people turned out ... security was still turning people away without invitations. One unlucky gate crasher said, "I came from the suburbs, perhaps they don't like my face." At least the French are brutally honest.

that's so cool!
More competitive companies should give out chairs and drive boats.
