*waves something shiny at Laurel*

Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf

Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...

Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...

So glad you could stay
Forever

He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand

You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..

So glad you could stay
Forever

i wake up on the day of my first final to find a massive leak coming from my bathroom ceiling. dipshit above me decided to clog his toilet and repeatedly flush it, and overflow it.

then i come home from my final to find the leak is not only still going, but has completely spread. it's coming out in my livingroom now. out of twelve random places in the bathroom.

it reeeeeeks in here. i live in a building built in 1929. my mom informed me, so nicely, that the plaster, which usually stinks, is not just plaster. apparently horse hair is used to bind the plaster in these old buildings. so my apartments reeks of stinky, wet, horse hair plaster.

the bathroom ceiling is mushy. everywheeeeere. i touch it, it mushes.

i'm not a happy camper. my landlord has shut the guy's water off above me...but there's so much of it, that it's just....everywhere. a plumber's on his way to do plumber stuff...but...dear god.

i felt the need to rant about it. so there ya go.
at least i'll get a completely redone bathroom out of this...

Ok, so this is my week:

last Monday: 4 page Philosophy 230 (introduction to moral theory) paper
Wednesday: Phys 410 (computational physics) final
Thursday: Phil 230 final
Friday: Astr 404 final (astrophysical measurements, there are 8 people in the class and we're all super astronomy keeners)
next Monday (ie 2 days from now): Phys 410 term project (a computer program and a 15 page [double spaced, including figures] paper)

Come Tuesday I'm going to sleep for a day.

What are you planning on doing with that degree if you don't mind me asking? i'm at a total loss for what i want right now.
Also, is it worth the amount of work?

My current plan is to get a PhD and become a prof/researcher. If that fails I'll probably end up teaching highschool physics and math. If I wanted to I could get hired by an engineering firm and work in industry but that doesn't really appeal to me. Also, you could do something llike a telescope opperator (ie move around and monitor the telescope so the poor clueless scientists don't have to) on some large telescope.

As for the workload, you have to love learning the stuff. If it's just a majors it's not so bad, but if it's honours then don't expect to be able to hold down a job durring the shcool year. It's highly beneficial to make lots of friends to do the assignments with. Of course, this is all based on UBC Honours Physics and Astronomy. It could be different other places. I must say that all my profs for astronomy have been at least good and most of them have been excellent (a couple of the physics profs and more of the math profs are wanting in that regard). It has been worth it for me.

Goodbye you liar,
Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head
(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.
