When I heard it I was like "whats wrong with that version? Five seconds in and I'm sold!"

That's awesome.
Now you just need to be like: "Yeah, you should run all of your demos past me from now on."
I don't see why he wouldn't agree. I mean you just offered him nothing, for something cool in return!
What a deal!

It's like a mix of old and new to me. It's hard to place why though. It doesn't sound quite so polished up as the newer stuff. I haven't read through this topic to see if anyone has said when this song was recorded (during a Bob Rock session or not), but it doesn't sound like Bob was behind the production on this one. Less polish automatically will make it sound like older OLP. Raine also sounds a bit less restrained during the chorus or whatever than he has on most of the new stuff. Still, if someone played me this song and I didn't know what it was or when it was recorded, I would still think it's newer. It still sounds like a new song.

Goodbye you liar,
Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head
(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.

Jeremy ran 4 demo's through us... only 1 song made HIPT- will the future blame us. Two of those songs were REALLY rocking and raw... sounded somewhat like "whatever" type of rock. The other song was Not Afraid... which was the Labatt Blue version.
Next time I talk to them, I'm gonna mention that they can still revive Not Afraid. That song, in its original brilliance, must be heard. I remember people in Sarah Slean's forums were going nuts about how awesome the song was at the JUno's.
I do like this Kiss on the Mouth song... but again, the guitars just don't rock enough.

I love how rockin' "Whatever" was... I wish there were more angry sounding OLP songs like that.

Is there anything worth dying for?
Is there anything worth dying for?
i won't care what the new olp songs are like as well as they aren't Meh. which means the other bonus song is going to have to be better than Kiss On The Mouth.

I'm not stuck in the past like alot of fans are with OLP. I think progression is healthy and refreshing in a band. I can IDENTIFY with some of the complaints I've heard since Spiritual Machines but, it was a new sound. A bit over-produced and generic maybe, but Gravity and HIPT produced some classic songs.
I think Kiss on the Mouth is pretty fantastic actually. The song has alot of energy and the vocals are at least more raw. The new album will most likely sound alot like this. Kiss on the Mouth is, (in my opinion) alot better than alot of songs on HIPT but clearly didn't fit the bill for that album. I'm guessing a good majority of the left over songs from the HIPT sessions have this sort of edge.

you're probably right about Kiss On The Mouth, actually. i've only heard the studio version once and am too lazy to do it again.
