What classes?

Post by Random Name »

are you taking?

I'm doing English and I am registered for Shakespeare, an English Structure class and Philosophy. When I was away though they cancelled classes that I was registered for so then I was wait-listed for French and Modern Canadian Fiction. And now they have closed all wait-lists.
I figure I can get into French easy enough, but that means there are only two classes of CanFiction and one is apparently with a really hard marker who I've been warned to steer clear of, and the other is an awesome prof who I want because I had him last year but he refuses to sign people into his class. Its either get in when you register or better luck next year.
It's like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I donno what to do. If I should bother trying to get signed into his class or if I should look for another class that I need to take and get signed into that one....or if I should just forget it and take 4 courses.

Stupid university.

Take as many courses as you can. If you want to get out of there sooner, the faster you acquire credits the sooner you can leave!

Also, taking a full course-load makes for a much more interesting semester. Although it's harder because of all the work, I found that taking 18 credits my last semester of college was well worth it. (The normal course-load was 12-15)

Trying to work and do a full load of classes doesnt always work out for me.
I find that my grades take a hit if I take on more than what I can do.

I'm also considering only taking 4 classes because I'm not sure I can pay tuition if I take 5 courses. Which is not fun to think about.

Well in that case, do what you can.
I wasn't working in college because I was lazy and wanted to focus more on school (and friends and having fun) than on work, not that I could afford to do that but hey, that's me. Plus, the job market in Fredonia was sorely lacking.
Good luck, I hope you do well.

i'd say take something else and try again for his class next semester.
however, think about who you're hearing this information from. A lot of people have said bad things about profs and classes that i've taken, only for me to find out they're completely wrong.

but yeah, you don't want to get stuck with an asswhole. one really bad class can ruin a semester.

Me: air quality, water quality, hydrology, thermodynamics, engg economics, and either intro cell biology or some joke geography class.

True that. People get mad when they laze around and don't do jack squat, and then fail the course. They'll say anything to make the prof look bad when in reality it was their own fault.

Well let me say that it's also a matter of personal learning style. Depending on what kind of environment you learn best in, you could hate a prof and class while someone else loves it.

That's why half the people who took classes with my advisor hated them - he provided almost no structure and based classes around discussion of what we'd read the night before. Our papers were long but he demanded quality. People who couldn't learn like that tended to not do very well. I, on the other hand, got A's in almost every course I took with him because I paid attention in class, knew what I was talking about, and wrote great papers :D

haha so yeah now I'm taking an English Drama class because I need to take it next term to get a research/writing credit.

I'm looking at my classes now and I just realized that all of my classes take place within one hallway. Of all the buildings on campus and all the possible different classrooms all of mine are in the same building on the same floor in the same area. Thats all kinds of strange. Mainly because its not in the Arts building.

i wasn't sure whether i wanted to take any courses this semester, but i kind of thought it through and just wanted to take some light courses to improve my GPA. therefore, this semester, i'm registered in religions of the world and greek & roman mythology. i've also got my eyes on a sci-fi and fantasy english course, which is full at the moment. if that opens up though, i'll register in that and drop greek & roman mythology.

those fantasy english classes always fill up quickly. You'd probably have better luick trying to get signed in by the prof.

Nonetheless, if you are taking classics, I've taken a bunch of mythology courses so lemme know what books you need cause if I have them I'll cut you a deal. 8-)

I have professional sounding classes too!!!
I'm majoring in Social Work, but I'm first year so I'm getting a lot of my general education classes out of the way.

HUMA 1830 - Concepts of Male & Female in Western Culture
PSYCH 1010 - Introduction to Psychology
SOSC 1900 - Sexuality, Gender and Society
SOWK 1010 - Critical Foundation of Social Work
NATS 1870 - Understanding Colour

I'm also considering taking a minor in Psychology, but we'll see how I enjoy this psych class. Robbo, do you have any advice to offer about psychology?

Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf

Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...

Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...

So glad you could stay
Forever

He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand

You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..

So glad you could stay
Forever

no :(

i tried though, but with the new waitlist system they have now, it wouldn't let me add myself to waiting lists. and pretty much every class i wanted to get into has a waiting list. so i am stuck in mississauga yet again.
