I would put my money down on Brazil winning it all, but I would love to see Zidane and France romp everyone like they did in 98.

England wasn't very impressive this morning. Unfortunately Canadian television sucks and I was forced to watch the match on ABC, and they kept ranting and raving about Beckham. I think I heard them say "bend it like beckham" at least 7 or 8 times. It's sad cause he's the most overrated player in the world but gets so much attention.

And fucking Poland ruined my proline.

As a Polish person, I feel safe in asking: what the hell were you doing relying on something Polish?

Now that that's out of the way, I am excited for the World Cup. I did get yelled at by my friends who were getting pissed because I couldn't stop watching the Germany-Costa Rica game yesterday morning.

And honestly, I would be lying if I didn't say I was excited to see how well America did this time around.

heh... I never pay any attention to soccer/football unless it's the World Cup, in which case I automatically root for Italy due to being half Italian.

How does Italy stack up to the other teams, anyway?

They're in a tough group. I'm hoping they'll get out over the US, but i'm not expecting or hoping they get much further.

And Jim, there isn't a way to bet long term on Proline is there? Just match to match right?

ya they only have a few days in advance available. They also have a thing called "picks" where you have to pick the winner of the first 16 matches and whoever picks the most right wins the pool of money, but it's too hard. I went with mostly favourites for the first 2 days and Poland was the longest odds for a favourite at 1.80 which I thought was a steal.

I was in Berlin last week and Munich a couple of days ago. Holy crap I've never seen so much "fussball" in my entire life. The stadium where they played the first match in Munich is pretty freaking cool though. You better believe Berlin is pimped out with World Cup stuff, there is soccer in every major square there (makeshift fields set up). I am going to be in Amsterdam tomorrow and was told to expect a lot of hooligans.

i was in Italy during the last World Cup, the DAY AFTER they lost to Korea...people on the street wouldn't leave me alone because they didn't know i was chinese.

A lot of the Argentinian players are in the wrong sport... I just never realized one could be an amazing diver without ever touching water.
