Halifax, NS, May 12 and Moncton, NB, May 13
I want to hear the recording of Smooke meeting Raine.
Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.
And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

Amazing show, amzing letdown at the end of sorts. My G/F heard from a roadie where we could see them after the show. There was only a group of about 12 of us. Neverending White Lights and everyone came out of autographs, Jeremy and Steve poked their heads out, now keep in mind, there were twelve of us, at maximum, I was like "Hey steve n' Jer" They were 5 feet away at most, they looked at us for a second and just left, Raine done the same about an hour after that. 12 of us, waited 3 hours so see them, we see them and it was like we didn't exist...They must of been pissed about something. Not like there was fifty or sixty people that was going to group rape them. Would of been nice for my first concert though. :happysad:
What a show this was. The opening acts were all very good, Jets Overhead stood out from the rest though. Raine came out during Liar and his voice was amazing, it left the crowd knowing that it was going to be a good one. Then olp hit the stage, Steve played around for two or three minutes, leaving us wondering what the first song would be. It was Where Are You, not what I thought they would use for an opener, but it has lots of energy and got the crowd going. Not even at the halfway point of Where Are You the crowd in the sitting seats began to walk down the stairs to where the hockey ice started. The securtiy couldn't really do much but to tell them to not block the stairways. This went on for two or three songs. Then the security came in force and told us to go back... This didn't last long, I think when Raine seen the crowd disperse they broke down into an improvised jam, and Raine said "We need more people one stage!" "More people, let them on" People were climbing walls and jumping pass security to get on stage. Myself got close but when I wasn't allowed on I went and sat up by the rail stage centre, that didn't last to long though. They played alot of classics and the line up was good. The crowd was pumped by this time, during Wipe That Smile Off Your Face, Raine said somethign along the lines of "You all know Canada decided not go to Iraq and Afghanistan right" The crowd was screaming "F**K BUSH!" Then he broke down "No I'm not afraid, I'm Canadian" The crowed roared.
Raine then reached for his American flag started naming off companies that own our lifes "Playboy, Mcdonalds..." so on so on.
Before Kiss on the Mouth the lights came on a little and Raine said "Hold on, Hold on, before we play this new song I need someone who had the smarts to sneak some recording device in, If you have one turn it on" He ended up using someone's camara, then he said "And It's your repsonisibility to make sure you put this on the internet so everyone can enjoy it for FREE" The crowd freaked out again. The new song is really different then anything else, Raine was almost screaming during parts of it, I must say it reminded me much of Billy Talent.
Boy was probably the BEST song of the entire set. Raine brought a boy on stage and said "This is ____ (can't remember the name)" "We have a lot in common" "We both have a lot of Hope" I take it the boy has cancer of some types, I seen him after the show and he look like he'd been through kemotheropy. The boy started a clap with the crowd which lasted the whole song, then Raine hugged him, so did steve, the emotional level was just amazing"
The cry for an encore was loud, so loud that I almost had to plug my ears, They came out to play Picture, Somewhere Out There, and Starseed"
After the show thanks to a little advice from one of the roadies we were told where we could see OLP after the show, the following event was REALLY upsetting, there was a group of twelve of us, max, with no one else around about an hour after the show, other bands had come out. Jeremy and Steve poked their heads out and I said "I see Jeremy and Steve, Hey!" they just looked at us and left. It really made the twelve of us feel like crap. Then later, about 2 hours after the concert we seen Raine through the door, I said "Hey" and he just didn't look at me. :-( Really was sort a bummer to the end of the night, I can see if there was a lot of people outside, but 12 of us? I just took it as the tour was almost over and they were getting tired of it all, but it would of been a really nice end to my first OLP concert.

although Raine probably had the best intentions, this sound really cheesy. like something you'd see on Jerry Springer or Oprah..
but then again, i wasn't at that concert. i probably would have been just as emotional had i been there.
that sucks about OLP snubbing you, though. i wonder what's pissing them off lately? jeez.

So, the Moncton show...
Well, it was absolutely....nothing I can even find the words for.
The energy was crazy. Raine told us out of all the stops on the tour, Moncton had the most energy/was the loudest.
Our seats (9th row floor) were kind of sucking (seeing on how the people in front of us were drunk and headbanging) but we actually ended up making our way to the very front of the stage, up against the fence.
I can't even discribe the bands energy, they were SO amazing.
At one point Raine came over right in front of my friend and I, he was so close we could "literally" touch those yellow and green shoes of his.
My friend and I grabbed each others hand and we were holding them in the air, and Raine looked at us and smiled, then he said "I want everyone in here to grab the hand of the person next to you!"
I'm not sure if he says this every show but it felt AWESOME.
At the end of the show Duncun came over and shook my hand and asked how I was , and all I could mutter was "GOOD!....OH MY GOD!" yeah, not very smooth, I know. lol
NOW for the bad parts....
We waited until literally 3am outside of their tour bus. It was FREEZING. For the last hour it was just 3 of us.
They still didn't come out.
All the other bands came out (We met everyone in Neverending White Lights 3 different times, and Jets Overhead more than 5 at least)
BUT NO OLP!
Then finally, at 3am, this security guard comes over and he's like yeah the band isn't coming out guys, you're wasting your time.
Then the tour bus drove away with the three of us just standing on the corner.
HEARTBREAKING!
We were very respectable, we didn't sworm them, or bother them in any way...
so it was really really disappointing.

Remember the pic I posted that Sandy photoshopped... Raine in an argyle sweater (or rather, Raine's head on the body of a guy who was wearing an argyle sweater?). I think I put that on BBTS. Well, here's real pic of Raine in argyle... and his sweater is on inside out. He had literally rolled out of bed for soundcheck and the rest of the guys were onstage already.

Wow, they neglected 3 people at the Moncton show too.
My friend's mother was out bar-hopping late on Friday night and they really wanted a smoke, it was about 4:30 in the morning she said. She walked up to a bunch of guys "You guys have a smoke?" "Uh....we don't smoke, you know who we are?" "No" Turns out it was Jets Overhead and Jeremy sitting out on the road, Jeremy was eating Poutine, he let her have a bite. I can't imagine what time Poor Jer and them got to Moncton, It's like a 4 hour drive from Halifax I think. Maybe he was just having a headache,

did anyone at the moncton show notice for the first hour it was pretty damn EMPTY in there? i mean, there were about 20 seats on the floor that were empty....
when i went to buy a tshirt i was talking to a friend of mine who went, and she was so mad because their tickets said the show started at 8 when indeed it started at 7. apparently alot of peoples tickets said 8.
...that sucks.
