Favorite Album Covers

Post by bovine »

I'm curious what everyone's favorite album covers are. Two of my favorites are below.

I also love the covers on the entire Verve Remixed/Unmixed series...but there are 6 CDs in the series, and I can't decide on a single favorite out of them. The series takes songs from the Verve record label (mainly classic jazz songs) and remixes them. Then the Unmixed series is just the original versions. Each cover is a sculpture of sorts made up of things associated with jazz music and older recorded music in general and also things associated with newer music technology.

Ya know what? Now that I went through all that, I guess I'll post a picture of one of the CDs. It's not necessarily my favorite cover from the series (I like them all about the same), but it's from volume 2 which is, IMO, the best one musically.

Brutus is an honorable man
It's just coincidence that oil men will wage war in an oil rich land
And this one goes out to my man taking cover in the trenches with a gun in his hand
Then gets home and no one flinches when he can't feed his fam...

But Brutus is an honorable man...

I always liked this one. It was up for a Grammy, but it lost to some ugly cover.

This hasn't been released yet, but I think the art is fantastic.

This one always struck a chord with me (pun intended).

I always enjoy the simplicity of Cake's album covers.

There's also Fantomas' Suspended Animation limited edition cover, but that's more of a full-package experience...

Image
I like this cover a lot.

ditto.

I was actually thinking of mentioning the Cake covers in my post as well. It's not that I think that any one of them is really amazing (although I do like them), but I like how they all have the same basic look.

Mine too :D.

I've always liked this one as well, just because it looks so fun and fluffy and I want to touch it:

I love the album, but never cared much for the cover. That's interesting that you rank it as one of your favorites...I never knew what other people thought of it.

I found one on eBay a while ago, and Nikki found the other, and posted links to them in Mike's myspace comments. I guess he found them amusing.

I love the album too. I like the cover because it's not her usual thing, and I think the photographic aspect of it is pretty amazing. I love the positioning and the color. I think overall it's just a neat cover.
