Tool - 10,000 Days
Tool's new album comes out on May 2nd. Their first single is currently on the radio it's called Vicarious.
It sounds a lot like the Lateralus material. Almost like it could be a song from that album. I do love this song though, it's very intricate like most of Tool's music. I do wish the vocals were a bit more prominent on this track though.
For anyone that likes Tool at all, it's worth a listen. It is 7 minutes long too by the way. There are a lot of instrumentals through out the song.

I liked Lateralus.
I'm too lazy to get on the hub and hunt down the new song. Anyone have the single they want to send me?

Pretty much all of tool's music is awesome. Whether you like it or not. It's just unique and arranged in ways completely different than any other band.
I mean, not many drummers have a PHD in drumming, but Danny Carey does.
His skill is extremely apparent yet subtle on their single.
There are some mind blowing things Danny Carey can do.

The single was fantastic. Thanks for sending it to me Lando.
I can't wait for the album. And I agree with you - all of the music of theirs I have heard (and I haven't even heard nearly enough) is incredible.

I read Pitchfork's review saying Tool has made an A Perfect Circle record (with negative connotations to that remark). Despite the reviewer not approving of this, it piqued my interest. Strangely enough, I've never liked Tool but have liked APC for a long time. Is there any merit to that comparison?

Not AT all.
Seriously, if you compare any elements of this album to something else, it sounds a lot more like Lateralus than anything APC has ever done, but I'm only saying there are elements of Lateralus, the new album is completely fresh and different from the last, like all of Tool's albums. That's why they wait 5 years between album releases.
Why doesn't this sound like APC in the least?
Billy Howerdel writes the music for APC and has nothing to do with Tool.
Adam Jones, Danny Carey and Justin Chancellor write most of the music for Tool.
My biggest beef with this album is that there are only 11 songs with like 3 tracks that are short instrumental or noisy 2 minute tracks that Tool often puts on their albums. So this album doesn't feel like it has more than 6 or 7 full songs on it.
I'll upload the song THE POT for people to check out.
Trust me, EVERYONE should check it out before passing judgement on the band. It could help people be a lot more open minded, if you've already formed an opinion on their music from past listens.
