generally, the ferries are pretty safe; they'd cancel sailings if they thought the water would maybe pose a risk. this is really, really odd.

Did we talk about this one already? Man buys Tim Horton's coffee. Man drinks coffee and throws coffee cup in the garbage without rolling up the rim. 10-year old girl finds cup, can't roll up the rim. Gets 12-year old girl to help. Girls find a prize under the rim, both sets of parents believe they are the owners of the prize. Man says the cup was his, he paid for the coffee, he gets the prize, regardless of whether he threw it in the garbage or not. Man and lawyer now want DNA test to prove that the cup was his, therefore the prize is his.

Oh yes. we were talking about that.
Obviously since the guy threw it out he has no claim over it.
And neither of the kids parents diserve it if they are fighting over it like that.
Hell, they'll both end up spending more than what the cars worth on legal fees.

Goodbye you liar,
Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head
(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.

I think this is definatly getting out of control. I think its RIDICULOUS how people can get so greedy. I don't know if theres ever been any case involving something like this but usually if you throw something out it means u don't want it any more and it should no longer be considered yours.
I feel bad for the kids, I wish the families could just split the money and get over it!

Yeah, I'm kind of a news junkie. Every morning before work and every day during lunch I read headlines from 6 different news sources and read any stories that jump out at me.

My new favourite story of the day:
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/ ... /Business/
"Canadian Auto Workers union and Ford Motor Co. of Canada Ltd. officials said yesterday that they are in discussions to create preferred parking at the Oakville assembly complex for workers driving vehicles from the Ford family of brands.
That means workers driving Ford, Lincoln, Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mercury, Mazda and Aston-Martin vehicles would get the choice spots close to the gates, while those driving competitors' vehicles would have a longer walk."
I love the reader comments on this article. For example:
If you make your living from the manufacturing of a particular product, what is it that you are stating by pushing a competitor's product in the noses of your employer. This move is quite correct and very very sensible and far more humane than getting a pink slip over such an issue.
Ford, why don't you just make a better car?
If I was a Ford employee and this policy came into effect I would prefer to park my car at the back of the parking lot anyways. This way I could avoid puncturing my tire on the pieces of rust, muffler and other consequences of the shoddy products that Ford is famous for.
If I worked for Ford I would drive a Ford. If I worked for Toyota I would drive a Toyota.
Smart move of Ford's part. It will make for a shorter walk on the part of the Ford driving employees to call the tow truck when their cars fail to start.
Why doesn't Ford just get some hired goons to beat anyone who shows up for work driving a competitor's product? Then they could tar and feather them, trash their vehicles, burn down the miscreants' homes, and jail their families. The province could pass a law expelling anyone driving an imported vehicle from the Ontario Health Plan. They could ban their children from the public school system. The creation of forced labour camps, in which the prisoners wash and detail the vehicles of their Ford-driving brethren, is another great idea. There are lots of creative ways to encourage people to drive domestic vehicles, and thus boost the local economy. Everyone wins. What are we waiting for?

hmm...
kind of makes me wonder what they know that I don't.
Which doesn't really matter since I don't drive a ford.
My cars in order of purchase: Chevy cavalier (junk), then Toyotal Corolla (awesome, and lived to 400,000 kms), then Mitsubishi Lancer (awesome).
My husband's cars in order of purchase: Ford something (crap), then Honda Civic Hatchback (lived longer than 400,000 kms), then Honda Civic Sedan (awesome).
My dad hates that I buy "foreign" cars, and I hate those discussions and terminology since our toyotas and hondas were made right here in Ontario by Canadians, with Cdn labour and parts.

Our family own's a Ford Focus and a Ford Aerostar. Not because we are in anyway loyal to Ford but rather they happened to be the best cars available for how much we were willing to pay. Both perform wonderfully for the most part. It does help that my dad is a mechanic though as we never have to take anything in. Anyway, the point is, the gap between Domestic cars and imports has closed considerably over the last little while.
However, after saying all of that, I'd much rather buy a car from Honda, Toyota or VW. They are just nicer.
