I'll be speaking to them at Buffalo about this. You can count on it.

Oh, and in reply to the post that REMed me (my mom came in to talk to me while I was about to post), I should say that Steve only had the blank stare because he had no idea what I was talking about. The bad seats at that show were totally Rogers' fault.

Is there any way you can share a high resolution picture of that and we can print them on shirts? I would totally wear that to Vancouver.

Josh and I will talk to the band! Won't we Josh?

Also, I think there are those petition sites. I'm sure they have an IP check option or something... google it.

I'll see what I can do. It'll look pretty clean if I save it at the highest quality setting. I'll upload it on yousendit or something after I get back from school today.

Matt really cares for his fans. He realises that they're the ones who keep him in dogfood and whatever else he needs. He played a show in Ottawa last year which was 19+. After getting complaints from younger people he tried to change the venue but couldn't so he put on a free acoustic all ages show in the afternoon to make up for it. He generally has a way of contacting him direct on his website and will take the time to reply. And he doesn't make people pay.

I'm by no way saying that OLP should do all that and whatever, I realise that each group/person is different etc. and Matt really does go above and beyond anyone else I know BUT when your fans are actually paying for something you expect to get something in return.

Those t-shirts are great by the way, but I think if people are going to wear them, we need to be clearer about why the CM is angry otherwise it'll just go over their heads.

how about on the back, saying something like "$170 for fan club front row seats?!" (except more clever), and then have the cm mad monkey at the front, or vice versa.

Going with Saman's idea, how about on the front, something like:

"You could read this from the stage if I had $170 to spend on concert tickets."

Dumb? Not angry enough?

Okay,

I dont understand why it's so important to have the best seats in the house. Is it that important to see OLP up close? I don't understand why you wont just get the cheap tickets and not have the greatest seats. If your stuck all the way in the back then so be it, atleast you'll have the opportunity to HEAR olp...isn't that what concerts are about? listening and hearing the music live? I know, if i had the chance to get to canada and see olp, i'd get the cheap tickets in a heartbeat...but thats just me i guess..I just think that if i had the chance to hear olp, even if i was stuck all the way in the back i'd still go just to hear them, and enjoy the awesome music they created.
I understand what you all are saying though, I know that one of the best things about a concert is seeing the band, but think about it, is it worth passing up a chance to see OLP, just because you'll be in the back?

( side note : i'll have my new dell lappy by next week :O )

Because people paid MONEY to sign up to the official fanclub. Why sign up for something that doesn't do anything for the fans? If you have a lot of cash and are just some shmo who isn't a big OLP fan you can buy the best seats for $170.00. You don't need to be a fanclub member for those seats...

I was thinking last night, and it seems like we are in a time when it is far more reputable for a band to get a corporate sponsor for thier tour if it means having cheaper ticket prices and going to more places. So why are bands going in the opposite direction and playing less shows and charging more for them? Its like only the small time bands that need to tour their ass off just to make ends meat and get noticed do the whole touring thing anymore.
The music industry makes me sad.

I think I'm the lone person who does not mind paying a premium for a show with assigned seats. You pay for what you get and if that means I don't have to wait in line for hours at a stupid general admission show, then hell yeah, bring it on!

Thankfully the show I am going to is on a Sunday, because there is only so much time I can take off work. I will do weekday shows anytime if they are close by. But I can't afford to take a vacation day just to stand in line. I also do not like general admission shows because I could choose to stand in line all day (or pay a premium to be let in early) and then some punk might arrive 5 minutes before OLP goes on stage and push me out of the way and then I wasted my time standing in line for nothing. Trust me, it's happened. An OLP show a few years back in Toledo comes to mind. I was being pushed so hard in the front row that I had no choice but to go to the back of the venue. It sucked!
