I hope the band doesn't know what's happening. Because if they do know, then I am very very VERY disappointed.

thanks for the un-ban Nikki.... I'd say I learned my lesson, but I think you people know me better than that

anyway... no soundcheck... this is getting better and better.

you pay all that money for a fan club that does nothing, then pay even more for this pre-sale garbage.

let me tell you a quick story...

when Miro and I were graced with the experience of touring with OLP and Stacy back in the summer of 2003... we were on top of the world. I mean, we had guestlist for some awesome shows and we learned a lot about touring and such...and we just had a great time...anyway at one of the shows, it was a fully seated venue... and our seats were really good, but our friends Reena and Priscilla who paid $50 (US funds) had terrible seats. We happily traded tickets with them and sat way back because we felt bad that they had to pay that much.

I've been spoiled when it comes to OLP shows... I know... but even that doesn't justify this.

The first time I saw OLP was at the biggest show of their career (Maple Leaf Gardens January 1998) ... I paid $30 and sat at the back of the arena. They have come a long way since then, and service charges have increased... but come on.

Didn't they already make up a good chunk of those? I thought they'd rescheduled a lot of dates after the whole Family Crisis fiasco, because a friend of mine was telling me how he was planning to go to the rescheduled TX date near him.

OLP need to take a look at Pearl Jam's Ten Club. Tickets are sold first to Ten Club members., who get priority seating. I think they get the first 5 front rows or something like that, and closest side seating to the stage, and your Ten Club # determines your seat. Ten Club tickets are also avaibale weeks (months?) before they go on sale to the public, too.

Plus, you know, they get the singles every Christmas as well as poster deals, etc. etc.

Paying twice as much for a good seat is just retarded, especially when the fan club has done jack shit before that. Kinda glad they're not swinging by Winnipeg. Makes not seeing them even easier.

All in all I'm pretty disappointed in the way .net did the tickets and the service they had provided. When Rich, Shelley, Susie, Nikki, Melissa, Kruno, Miro, Josh (via phone), and myself all sat down with Stace to discuss the future of .net last year a few hours before the Drake Hotel show, this is not what we had in mind. Those of us who have ran OLP related sites and such had provided enough suggestions and ideas to make .net the ideal haven for the hardcore OLP fan. The justification for charging for a fan club was to provide for special multimedia, as well as keeping up the message board. We have been provided with video that is worse quality than we would have had when Stace ran the site, and no b-side or live audio, pictures and journals that would have been on .net when we didn't pay for it. The message board is composed of CMers and 3 or 4 non-CMers. The blogs are worthless and I can read better ones on the members myspace pages. After my membership ends I will be severing ties with .net. I am thoroughly disappointed in its performance over the past 5 months. The owners of olp.cc, ourladypeaceuk.com, clumsymonkey.net, and the hub gave every idea of how to make .net a tremendous success and it failed to come through on any of it. Thumbs down to the .net team on letting down true fans tremendously.

As for travelling out west, Josh and I will look at tickets. 95% I will be there for 2 or 3 shows. I will probably hit Seattle for a few days before because I really want to visit the EMP Museum, and the Jimi Hendrix memorial.

All of this makes me very very sad. Honestly $50 concert tickets are expensive already. Not that I wouldn't pay that because I believe in supporting music. But to "tempt" fans with promises of priority treatment if they join the fan club and then do nothing is really absurd. I know my friends who suscribe to DMB gets first 10 rows always. That is what you are paying for. On top of that to add insult to injury by asking for another 170 bucks is just rude.

I am so dissolutioned by all of this. It is the big corporate monster taking over a band that I thought really cared about their fans. :(

Amen to what BOAT and just about everyone else has said...

I think I'm just gonna try my luck on the general public sale on Friday morning for London and Ottawa...they have to SOME decent seats left right? I mean, I'm sorry, but my credit card can't be making $300+ promises my bank account can't keep, lol...

ahhhhhhh this just makes me so frustrated....I mean in the last couple of years, I've seen sooo many amazing shows that cost btwn $5-20, in intimate venues where bands can really connect with their fans....I'm not saying OLP can't do this (I obviously have experienced it first hand), but I'm just tired of all this politics of presale and useless fanclubs, ticketbastard and service fees, etc, etc...

this makes the indie canadian scene just that much more appealing, at least in my eyes...

le sigh,

No offense meant at all to any of the above mentioned names but with that many Hardcore/Above and Beyond fans involved in the creation of .Net how is it we don't have any answers to our above questions?

This kind of stuns me even more knowing now that .Net had so much input from all of you guys and wasn't created just by those that supposedley know better at Sony or whoever.

It's one thing for a band like Aerosmith or U2 to amass a huge following over the past decades and to see their average ticket prices rise to meet demand.

But for the price of an OLP ticket to rise from $20 to $200?? I jsut don't see the connection here.

I seriously refuse to belive that a band who has done a crapload of free shows this past year has suddenly decided to rip off their loyal fans by charging $170 for decent seats, which is even a sketchy price for a band like U2 of Aerosmith.
