YOU PAGEBABIED MY EXCITING NEWS!!!

nikki4982 wrote:I remembered we had a thread like this, so I just dug it up and am bumping it beeeeecause...

nikki4982 wrote:I haven't heard OLP in any stores, either. I heard Chantal in the mall, once, though! That's... sort of... the same........ :freak:

That has now changed for both of us!

(Well, it changed for me when I bought HIPT on it's release date at Tower Records... but I think they always play all the new releases the day they come out so that wasn't really anything random or exciting. Well, it was... but still...)

Anyway... we went to the mall today, walked into the juniors section of Strawbridges (department store)... and a few seconds later, I hear the drum beats to "Innocent" and just look at Melissa and say (quite loudly ) "NO WAY. 8O"

 That totally made my day.

I've never heard olp played in a store, but I've woken up to olp on the radio a few times. It always makes me so happy. I hate waking up in the morning (who does?) but I woke up to Innocent 2 weeks ago and it made me happy for hours

You're in Toronto and you've never heard them in a store or anything? That's odd.

The "Is Anybody Home" video came on at the Hard Rock when we were there during our last Toronto meetup. That was fun. Especially since we were all quietly singing along and stuff. Teehee.

That is kinda strange. I hear at least one OLP song a week in the GTA (other than on the radio), either at the mall, when we're getting food somewhere, etc. I guess it depends on where you shop.

We (Sandy and I) were at the Toronto Boat Show last month and when we passed by one manufacturer's display, we heard Made to Heal. We stopped walking, looked at each other in shock, then started laughing because we both had the same reaction. Then we turn and look at the vendor and the guys at the booth are laughing at us, trying to figure out what we're laughing about

I'd be pretty excited to hear Wonderwall anyplace, too. :happytears:

Though I did hear newer Oasis at the supermarket a few months ago. Then the same song at the drug store. That made me very happy. :nikki:

It would be so much cooler if you woke up to IAH. If that happened to me, it would totally make my day for a week  .

The last OLP song I heard in a store was "Where Are You" in a gas station a week or so ago.

Usually hearing OLP in public is a blessing (especially anywhere south of the Michigan / Ohio Border)
But it all depends on the music that's being played with it.

For example:
Being played at a record store with stuff from Franz Ferdinand or the Foo Fighters - Sweet!
Being played at the mall with Green Day and Weezer - Cool :D
Being played at a Car Dealer with Celine Dione and Sheryl Crow - Cool :) at first ... untill you realize .... Oh crap ... *Hangs head in hands* :(

OLP has become elevator music

i love hearing starseed on the radio. and i barely listen to radio. but friends who do sometimes are like, "HEY JEN OUR LADY PEACE ARE ON LISTEN NOW!" and even though it's a song i've heard so many times before, i listen extra carefully and get all excited. because...yeah.

we're all lame!
