The only song I really want to hear as a new single is Walking in Circles.
-Sarah

Goodbye you liar,
Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head
(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.

Thats because System of a down is a hell of alot more popular then olp is. Plus mesmerize was being hyped by millions, where healthy was being hyped by a smaller group. System could probably put any song from Hyp/Mes and make it top20 or close too it.

i don't know why everyone is so hung up on getting the States to accept OLP, personally I don't give a shit, nobody here apparently liked anything from the ______ album and that was as Mainstream as OLP gets and personally if they made it to the status SOAD is in the States OLP would be on the long list of sell-out bands and I don't want OLP's demise.

In other words I don't want OLP's videos being played before and after Hilary Duff or Britney Spears, and the only way that will happen is if they are givin too much success.

i dont care if olp doesnt get played shit (even though they are a senior mainstream band in canada) but i want their music to be good. kind of like pearl jam / tragically hip... their new stuff doesnt get played as much as their older stuff. right? or is my analogy completely wrong?

I just want them to get the success they deserve. We can be selfish with them all we want, but remember that they're people, too.

As long as they're living comfortably and happy with the success they have, I'm fine with however they chart. But it seems to be a slow decline, and that makes me sad, and I can't imagine they're excited about it, either.

*wonders if that made sense cos she's insanely tired*

They may be in a decline in the 'popular' category that idolizes Hilary Britney and Ashley but I really don't think that that is a bad thing. I get the sense that they are far happier now with what they are doing. And you are right Nikki if they are comfortable in their living then they are probably better off having the less pressure than what comes with mainstream stardom.

Personally I would love to hear love and trust as a third single (although I don't listen to radio much)

You know what I find ironic?

A lot of people seemed to give OLP crap when they were trying to break into the mainstream with Gravity but with HiPT (a completely different album), people are still saying that the band isn't as good as they used to be and I think a main factor is the fact that it isn't selling nearly as well as Naveed or Clumsy.

When are we going to stop judging the band based on how they are doing on the charts? Success is nice but really, I don't see how "Where Are You" is any less of a song than "Life". "Angels Losing Sleep" is the best song I've heard from the band since their SM days and even surpasses songs like "Superman's Dead" or "Starseed". It's a shame it's not reaching the Billboards but who cares? It doesn't make the song any less good.

I understand that naturally, fans would like their favourite bands to do well in the charts..it's an added bonus..and I'm guilty of feeling that way, too but when I see who is selling the most albums on the SoundScan charts, I realize that those at the top aren't necessarily making the best music.

But if it makes some of you feel any better, "Angels Losing Sleep" is the 10th most played song on the radio in Canada right now...so they haven't completely faded into oblivion from the public eye.

Umm. I don't think anybody here is judging the band at all. We're just sad to see them not doing as well as they used to.

Nikki, I know you're not judging the band from a creative viewpoint but you just mentioned that they're slowly declining (I assume in their place on the music charts) and a bunch of people responded that it made them sad. I admit, it makes me sad, too but then I think about it a bit more and I wonder: Considering all the other crap on the charts, why are we sad??? :freak: I'm just happy that they're still making music that's worth listening to, IMO.

I swear man, they were better off in the old era. Anyone else agree or am I the only one?

Having read your previous posts, I assume you're talking musically. No, I don't agree with you. I think I'm in the minority and didn't think "Naveed" was that great of an album. If I had to choose between Naveed and HiPT, I'd probably choose the latter.

When naveed came out, grundge was what mainstream rock was...Olp fell right into that category then, people liked them because they could related their music to Pj, and the pumpkins, Aic all those good bands. When Clumsy came out, Alt rock was even bigger... With bush...Moist...Yata yata. Right now, we have crap like simple plan...Linkin park...list goes on. When pearl jam releases there new cd now, think its going to be played every 2 seconds? nahhh If the pumpkins reunite hopefully, will there new stuff be on the radio every two seconds? nahhh. If they made better single choices, id say they would be in a better position.

Should have been

Will the future blame us
boy
angels losing sleep
wipe

future is that one song most bands would kill for some mainstream attention. So why they didnt even pick that yet, I will never know.
