Post by megxyz128 »

I would call Apple and have them replace it at the first sign of trouble (if it's still under warranty, I dunno how long they last). At this point, if you had a regular ipod, they would replace it with one of the new ones that does videos too, I believe.

That happened to me a little while ago with my MP3 player. Its not an ipod though. I ended up accidentally deleting the driver for it so my computer didn't recognize what it was. Wasn't a big deal.

Goodbye you liar,
Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head
(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.

really unrelated but that's an awesome song he's quoting
"How can we justify spending so much on destruction and so little on life?" Matthew Good

"The white dove is gone, the one world has come down hard, so why not share the pain of our problems, when all around are wrong ways, when all around is hurt, i'll roll up in an odd shape and wait, untill the tide has turned.....with anger, i'm dead weight, i'm anchored"- IME, God Rocket (Into the Heart of Las Vegas) ^ Some say this song is about a terrorists thoughts before 911

"Pray for the sheep" Matt Good
"But it's alright, take the world and make it yours again" Matt Good

I felt it in the wind, and i saw it in the sky, i thought it was the end, i thought it was the 4th of July.

Nope, they just replace it with the same model. I've had my 40GB 4th Generation black and white screen replaced four times, I should know.

isnt that because they are still making the 40g b and w screens? I would imagine if it were a ipod mini they would replace with a nano seeing as they don't make the mini any more...it is like they never existed. soon to be collecters items

When Apple releases a new product, they do so without warning. So they always have a lot of the old model left over. So they keep them in storage and send them out to people whose iPod's break. When they introduced the nano, no one knew it was coming. So they probably have a crapload of mini's lying around. Also, they refurbish broken iPod's and send them out to people whose iPod's break. So you won't get a nano if you send in your mini, and you won't get a video iPod if you send in your full sized iPod. Sorry. I was hoping for that too, but no luck. BUT, I have my warranty through BestBuy. They pay for shipping to Apple. So if Apple, for whatever reason refuses to replace my iPod, BestBuy has to do it. So in that case, I might get a video iPod.

If you don't have the serial number from the back of your iPod entered into iTunes (or whatever program you use) your computer won't recognize the iPod at all. 2 of my cousins got iPods for Christmas and I had a heck of a time trying to enter a second serial number since they both use the same computer. Anyway...since you've been using your iPod for a year, you must have had the serial number in there at some point, but it sounds like it's at least a possibilty that it was deleted somehow. Try uninstalling iTunes and then reinstalling it thus re-entering your serial number in the process. I'm not sure if that will help, but it would be worth a try.

In a very loosly related topic, I got one of those FM transmitters for my iPod for Christmas and I was surprised how well it works! It sounds just like regular FM radio. Now I can listen to my iPod in my car :D I'm tempted to set it to a classical station and blast some death metal so that if another car drives by me listening to classical music they'll feel the wrath of Meshuggah if only for a second or two

I got an iPod with video a few weeks ago. Guys, it's a fluke (unless you're willing to pay extra). The only videos it'll play are ones you purchase from the iTunes store, OR ones you specially format with Quicktime Pro -- which you have to pay for.

Yeeeeah, bastards.
