Sydney "race riots"

Post by Korzic »

What have you heard? It's likely that much of what you have heard about this is media beatup. I'd like to see what you guys have heard before I actually get into what is REALLY going on.

Like I told Campbell on the hub... I hadn't heard anything til he mentioned it. :uhh: Not sure if that's cos I don't really watch any news or if it's just not being reported here.

Regardless, it's sad.

Its happend on Cronuella Beach. From what I know, a couple of life gaurds got into a tussle with a few Lebonese gang memebers. I'm not sure who started it but within a few a days, a crowd of 5000 people gathered at the beach to protest. BUT, things went to hell because the mob ended up assualting a few people of middle eastern descent. Thats all I know.

I heard a bit about it. From what I've heard, it started as a single riot with a middle-eastern man (or at least a man who looked middle-eastern) getting beaten by a crowd of people, and it somehow errupted into much larger riots.

Not really sure though. I'm probably misremembering what I read.

Aight here's how it goes.

Background information and all... Long post ahead

Before I start I will clarify that the term "Leb" may not necessarily refer to people specifically from Lebanon, rather the young men of MIddle Eastern appearance who term themselves this. They're the ones that cruise around in hotted up cars with more product in their hair than any 80s tv star and usually live and dress according the the lifestyle they proclaim to detest. Bling rap and nike/adidas/puma clothing.

Geography wise, southwestern Sydney... Punchbowl, Canterbury, Bankstown, Lakemba, Greenacre et al. is deemed as Leb central... primarily because most of them live in this area. Not only is Cronulla beach the only beach with a trainstation closeby but its also the closest beach to these suburbs.

For the past 10 years or so, "Leb" crime has been allowed to go unchecked because of the large presence of a "Leb" population in the electorates down there and fear of a backlash, there has been no hard crackdown on these guys and their crime rings. All other nationality crime gangs have had full taskforces set up against them but not the "lebs" because it has not been politically viable to do so. As such their disregard for the law has been increasing as has their disregard for the Australian way of life. For years now these young thugs have been abusing all patrons at the beach because they didn't match the way these guys lived. From spitting and harrassing girls for wearing bikinis to kicking soccerballs over people trying to sunbake.

And as of 3 weeks ago they punched 2 young volunteer lifesavers. This was the catalyst for the impending events. So the following Sunday a rally was organised to basically say... We are ALL Australian and stop harrassing everyone and text messages were flying around encouraging people to come and protest against this treatment.

Sunday, 11th December. The rally was held and for a while it was fine. Until the alcohol became too much and it degenerated. A marauding band of people then went looking for people to blame for all this. With white supremicists stirring the crowd they went after anyone of Middle Eastern appearance and a number of assaults occurred regardless of their so called proclaimed nationality. By about 6pm the cops had taken control and things had died down. Until 8pm by when the "Lebs" had got their boys together and kicked off a night of pure vandalism. Trashing anything they saw and asaulting anyone they saw. Maroubra copped the brunt of the attack, cars and shops being targetted. My company had 23 pure writeoffs for cars that night alone. Brighton-le-Sands, Bondi, Tamarama, Coogee and Cronulla also suffered. Come daylight, they left the poor residents to survey the carnage. 18hrs later they were, this time committing hit and runs. A car load of people would pull up trash something and drive off again. Again the same suburbs were hit.

Since Monday night there has been a MUCH heavier police presence in the area, with the entire southern beaches in almost lockdown and as such business is suffering.

Now this is NOT race related, despite the media beat up. It's about pure thuggery. The other "Lebs" the majority condemn this attack but they themselves are afraid to speak up against it in their own backyard for fear of being attacked themselves. Do not fear my city or my country. We aren't racists. We just have a few idiots.

wow, that was a good read, and i had heard nothing on this issue. that is something though.

it just goes to show that if you leave crime to fester, it'll only get out of hand and blown out of proportion.
Whenever death may surprise us,
let it be welcome
if our battle cry has reached even one receptive ear
and another hand reaches out to take up our arms.

Nobody's gonna miss me, no tears will fall, no ones gonna weap, when i hit that road.
my boots are broken my brain is sore, fer keepin' up with thier little world, i got a heavy load.
gonna leave 'em all just like before, i'm big city bound, your always 17 in your hometown
