I agree with the message within the Statement, especially in the stated necessity of countering such large predicaments as a weaponized world and global warming. I strongly believe that attempting to dull the impact of these two blows through first-world beneficence is by no means a solution. Stemming the tide from its source is the only long-term and effective way to solve the problem, rather than just a bandage countermeasure. Also, scattered individual action will not account for as strong a change as the rallied forces of co-operative international action. Legal instruments such as the Anti Ballistic Missile Treaty, the Convention on Climate Change, the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaties, and the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty are invaluable tools, but are based on collective support. Thus the Statement is justified in its claim that urging all governments is an action that must be supported and followed through by all nations’ concerned citizens. By the way Ms. Levere, Civics is the most fucking time-wasting subject ever.
