Meeting them for the first time

Post by JeffWich »

I know this is probably a recurring question, but I honestly have never had the opportunity (either because of people I'm with, stuff I had to do after shows, etc) to meet the guys. I don't want to meet them in the "zomg! it's them!! shake my hand!!!" way, I really feel like I absolutely MUST face-to-face tell them just how much they have influenced my life. I'm sure they've heard it a million times, but until I do so, I don't think they will understand.

I don't want an autograph, I just need to personally thank them and attempt to explain to them exactly what they are capable of doing through their music, and that if even had they never made a dime of success, the value of their influence on my life is worth everything I could ever give.

They came to the Roxy in Atlanta in October, the energy was surreal and the band noticed it too (it's one of those times where everyone just knows that what's happening is extraordinary. I don't know if that's why they are coming back, but my one regret from that show was not getting to meet them (my ride made us leave).

I don't know what some of you are or are not capable of, but I am sincerely asking that if any of you know a way or know someone with management, The Tabernacle, or whatever, it would really mean a lot to me. I only want the time and opportunity for me to tell them thank you. From what I hear, the way the Tabernacle is set up, it will be hard to get to the loading / tour bus area) to stick around. I will do that if possible (and I wish I could have at The Roxy) but I've heard it's not likely.

Hope noone see's what I'm asking the wrong way, I'm sure the boards get this alot.

Sincerely,

I hate to break it to you, but no one here has 'connections' (well i guess stace is an exception), and if they did, they wouldn't hook you guys up because you offered moolah.

there are a few people here that seem to have an uncanny ability to run into members of the band on toronto streets, buts thats about it.

I 100% understand, and I'm not really trying to pay someone to introduce me, (I was thinking more along the lines of free space on my server, or something more practical) and honestly I'm not trying to use compensation to motivate anyone, but if someone goes out of their way or just spends time to do something for someone they don't even know, I would do what I could to return the favor... I knew making this post that the chances were it wasn't going to happen, but I figured I should at least give it a shot... it's pretty important to me and what is the harm in trying? Being way down here in GA doesn't provide many opportunities, and all I want is to personally thank them... nothing more. I'm not trying to get "hooked up" or anything like that... just the opportunity to face-to-face say thank you. It may sound stupid, but it's important to me.

If you go early enough to shows or stay late enough (enough times, there are always the times this doesn't work out), you will meet them. Try that.

You get more opportunities than some. :O

Get to the venue hours early and wander around, you just might bump into somebody.

Yeah, to second that, I got to my show at 3 (doors were at 7) and I ran into all the guys walking down the street and going in and out of the club. And they all (well, except Steve who ran straight to the bus) hung around and talked after. I'd say if the venue is small and you can stay late/early you should have fairly good chances of meeting them.

Awwwww, poor Alex. *hugs*

Anyway, like everyone's said, just hang out around the venue early and late. The band usually takes the time to talk to any fans waiting around for them (unless they're in a hurry to get to the next city or whatever), so your chances are good.

Good luck, I hope you get to talk to them, they're super nice guys and I'm sure they'll appreciate what you have to say. :)

I'll take you for a ride.

Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf

Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...

Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...

So glad you could stay
Forever

He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand

You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..

So glad you could stay
Forever

I don't know the Tab personally..I do know that the band is very accessable.. Even if the buses are gated you can still see them go on and off the bus. The band will come over to the gate if someone calls over to them. There are alot of OLP fans in Atlanta if I remember correctly.

Get to the venue early. The band gets there early and usually are walking around before soundcheck.. Soundchecks are usually about 3-5 depending on venues. Also you can wait afterwards. That may be better also cause that is the laast show. They won't be rushing off to do another show so they may actualy hang out a little longer..

Good luck to you. If you want to meet the band it is up to you to make it happen.. Alot of us on here have met them in hard to met situtations..

I feel love, I feel a power. It comes to me in the darkest hour. And I want to feel it again

But I know where he lives so we can take the money and use it for the good of the CM
Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.
