well i felt like the reasoning behind the whole not thanking bob rock was just cause obviously they thank him and his name is all over the sleeve anyway. they didn't thank lanni on any of the albums he produced, i dont think so anyway. i think it was good of them to include his name on this album though, since he played a major role helping them become what they are now.
Lick a finger: feel the now.

Even though with Lanni they made greta music, you have to be realistic. You can make masterpieces and have them fall upon deaf ears, but OLP are only human. If they make their music "worse" and get money for it, they will take the money. You would do the same thing too, so don't be so hard on OLP if they stick with Bob Rock. It's what they wanna do.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.
I don't see a problem with the music they produced with Bob Rock. If Arnold Lanni was the producer and Mike Turner played on Gravity and it sounded exactly the same, everybody would be praising it. It's all a bunch of bias bull crap.

I honestly don't think Gravity would be the same at all...this record just seems to straight forward and rock-like than anything Lanni produced. The lyrics would probably be the same, if not, close, but the music would be different. Either way, I would love the album...

It's like you're all afraid to admit you like the new stuff. Oh no! You might be accused of liking something popular! God forbid.

One thing that I think NEVER would have made it to record with Lanni was that goddamn "she wishes she was a dancer/and that she'd never heard of cancer" line. It's such a FORCED rhyme! I cringe every time. I've never heard anything like that from them before and I think it's probably Lanni who weeded them out from Raine's lyrics

awkward is the new cool

"I'm a freak, a star, I'm everything you are"
"Why eieieie yeah superman's dead
Eieieie yeah is it in my head
Eieieie yeah we'll just laugh instead"
"Can you see her standing there
And well she's trying to find just anywhere"
"Nobody left in line
No one to make you shine"
one from each album... how are any of these any different?

I dislike the poppiness and simplified lyrics on this album but Corey does have a point with the rhyming.

The rhymes on these examples are more subtle, unlike the "Innocent" line which stands out really much. Besides, the "Innocent" line was pointed out by defying_gravity first, and that makes it more noticable.
It's bad, I'm sure Raine can do better. That's why Raine never attempted on putting out "Innocent" when he was working with Lanni, because he knows that Lanni and Mike will not like this.
Al's emails put a smile on my face, even though all they say is "You've got a private message!"

alright, take it easy.
I never said you had to like that line. I'm just sick of people acting like Gravity would be "perfect" if Lanni produced it. Lanni was a great producer, yes, but you don't know what he would have done. You don't know what real influence Bob Rock has had. None of us know except for the members of the band. You gave your opinion, and then I gave you mine. Don't berate me because I have a different opinion.

I agree here too, but I think the whole point of the simplified lyrics was to appeal to a wider fan base that were alienated by the complicated lyrics of happiness and sm.
