Some songs' lyrics clarifications...

I read a few different versions to the stories behind "Naveed" and "Big Dumb Rocket", about naveed- is it true he was killed by a gun accident? this is what i read: "this song is about a friend of Raine's that commited suicide. I've seen it performed live a couple of times and during the 'It's gone, It's gone, It's gone.....' part, Raine switches to, 'He's gone, he's gone.....'"
And the story behind BDR- did Raine shot a bullet by a mistake? or just played with the gun not knowing it's armed?

and btw lyrics- does anyone know who Apology and Bring back the sun were written for? (Is Chantal involved)?

As far as I know Navid isn't dead... if he is, that happened sometime in the last couple of years.

According to the Big Dumb Rocket story, no gun was fired.

I think Apology is for one of his kids.

Naveed isn't dead - or at least wasn't when the song was written. The man the song was named after has actually been working in the video game industry, and got Duncan and Jer a role in GTA: Vice City (as cops voices).

Big Dumb Rocket - as far as my understanding goes - is about a time when Raine was at his friends house, and Raine found/was shown the friend's father's gun. At one point Raine jumped around a corner and pointed it at his friend, who dove to the ground and started crying. Turns out the gun was loaded, but Raine didn't realize it (the friend was scared shitless).

Actually, I believe that Raine removed the magazine before he went to scare his friend. However, he forgot about the round in chamber.

I always associated Naveed with coping with a suicide, even if that's not what it's about.

It's cool to get your own meanings out of songs.

The Big Dumb Rocket story cracks me up... just cos I can't imagine Raine doing that. :lol:

It's totally something a little kid would do.

I believe the friend was in the shower and getting out when Raine jumped out with the gun. And he yelled something like "BANG!" :lol:

yeah, and what if he was planning on pulling the trigger for fun? i mean, i would have. to add to the whole BANG effect. looking back on it and what you might have done would be terrifying.

I think that's the song that nobody knows who it's about.

I remember hearing Duncan say (and I don't even remember if it was an interview or if it was a conversation in real life :freak:

) that he has an idea who it's about, but Raine won't say.
