Jesus Christ and God are the same being in Christian theology. To a christian, Jesus IS God, Not a god. It's a key distinction between Mormonism and Christianity.

For clarity's sake, God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit make up God. When a Christian refers to God, they are making referance to all three.

Catholic is Christian technically.

p.s.
No, see cass explained it to me. At least in her faith, they believe other non-abrahamic religions/cultures are people that originally knew about God and then steered off the straight and narrow.

Exactly. I believe the earth et human race started off under the Lord, and "veered off" as you say.

Points for Cass for telling Yannic.

Back to the point though;

Sean, I don't think that Homosexuality was widely viewed as wrong within the world, but it was viewed widely as being wrong in Society even into the 80's. It's always been viewed as wrong in the Monotheistic Religions.

However, I have come to a conclusion. Just because you don't agree with what someone practices[such as Homosexuality], it doesn't mean you hate them(nor does it make you a bad person), it means you disagree with them. I personally think that in a world filled with as much hate as ours is, any consenting love is good love, therefore I don't think Homosexuality is immoral/wrong.

Just because someone disagrees with it doesn't mean they are a homophobe, it means they disagree with it. Cass, for example, disagrees with the practice, but does she Hate Gay people? No! Right Cassie?

It's against the bible to hate.

So I have to say, "yes" here, right?

Just kidding. I absolutely don't hate homosexuals. I don't hate anyone for that matter.

I've been struggling to understand the Godhead lately. In contrast to all religions and mine. I know it seems simple to grasp...but it really is more difficult than it seems. For instance, in an introduction to the BoM it says that God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost, who are one. But this specific doctrine that says that they are seperate beings of flesh. So...what I understand is that they are one in purpose. Very key difference. It's like stats...it seems simple but I still can't grasp it

BoM being Book of Mormon? Again Christianity and Mormonism differs on this point. No where in the Bible will you find referance to each being "seperate beings of flesh." I find it interesting that it refers to all three as flesh. Christianity will teach that only Jesus ever became human, or "flesh."

Well if you believe that God and Jesus are one...essentially God did become flesh...right?

This is totally off topic, but I disagree with saying "this is where Mormonism and Christianity differ". I believe myself to be Christian. But I geuss if I have to conform to some set rule of beliefs, besides believing in Christ as the Savior, then I'm not.

Christianity:
Chris·ti·an·i·ty (krĭs'chē-ăn'ĭ-tē, krĭs'tē-)
n. The Christian religion, founded on the life and teachings of Jesus.

I really hate it when people think that Mormons, Catholics and other smaller sections of the religion aren't 'real' christians because they have a different way of interpreting their faith. It's damn simple: if you believe in Jesus and follow his teachings, you're a freaking christian. Why protestants think they have a monopoly on the term is beyond me...

Because if the way you interpret your faith is out of context with what is written in the Bible then you aren't really following Christ or God and therefore aren't a Christian.

ie. You believe Satan to be all powerful and that he'll one day conquer God etc etc, and still believe that Jesus died on the X to save man from his sins. This does not make you a Christian.

Who are you to define Christianity, though? Just because a person doesn't fit your definition of a Christian (ie, if they aren't following his teachings in the way you feel they should be followed) doesn't mean they aren't Christian.

Also, the problem with your Satanic example is that person isn't following Christ's teachings in any way, shape or form (and if he is, he's a poor Satanist).

Besides, who cares what you call it? It's what the person believes that counts, not the name we place on those beliefs.

Again, this is utterly contradictory. What do you mean? The only way i can see that sentence as making sence is if you're of the belief that Monotheistic religion is society and others are the rest of the world.

There isn't even a single "soceity", so i'm not sure how that sentence even makes sence. Any Soc. student will tell you that our world is made up many cultures and socities. And even sub-cultures and counter-cultures within those. What i was saying is that in the majority of the worlds socities, outside monotheistic society, accepted homosexuality. Many people are not aware of this and find it hard to believe because Abrahamic Religious views are now so ingrained in our everday life. Ask your history professors or religion prof.'s how many students are utterly shocked by homosexuality in the ancient and non-western world.

I'd also like to point out that i'm clearly homophobic and hateful towards homosexuals :P

Exactly. The differences between Mormonism and Catholocism are all disagreements in how to interpret the teachings of Jesus. I mean unless Catholics are following the Law of Moses (which I'm pretty sure they're not), then they're no interpreting it literally...which is what i think you mean.
