i think angels is a wonderful song...but not the best choice for a single

i agree that will the future blame us is probably the best choice for a single on the album, and would probably be their biggest radio hit on the album (although apparently from what i've heard, Where are You was their biggest hit in Canada)

if i had to pick the singles for this album i would choose

1. Will the future blame us
2. Where are you
3. Love & Trust
4. The world on a string
5. Picture

(i really think they might actually do 5 singles on this album like the old days)
Is there something good, something more?
Is there anything worth dying for?

Where are you is not their biggest hit. Somewhere Out There and I'm pretty sure Innocent were bigger.

Where Are You is doing decently, but its not huge.

Angels might be one of the best songs on the cd, and im glad they picked a great song, but its just not going to be a strong single

will the future blame us
Boy
Love and trust

would make great singles

I disagree with everyone who says it won't be a strong single.

I bet it'll get more attention in the U.S. than "Where Are You" did.

The reason it'll make a strong single -- it might be the only song that gets the closest to sounding more like "old OLP," sans maybe "Al Genina," but not like that would be a single. Old OLP sounding song = more attention by radio people who still like to play "Starseed," "Superman's Dead" and "Clumsy" and disillusioned fans who gave up on the band after the last album. Kapow!

If where are you did well, this will do sensational. ALS is more then lkely the strongest song on the albm, its got an OLP feel to it.

Not only does it have an OLP feel to it (though, I honestly don't even know what that means), but it's just a song that immediatly sounds great. Doesn't take more than one listen before you're like "yeah... this is good".

how could it not sound like olp? it was done by olp, so however it sounded, it was olp.

i also disagree that it won't make a strong single. "single quality" or not, it's a great song

OLP created a distinct sound, I think ALS aligns with that sound more then where are you does.

For me the only part for Where Are You that sounded like the OLP sound was the "come on, come on come on" part. When i heard it for the first time that was the only part that screamed olp. But i still really don't like the song at all. I skip it when I listen through the CD.

A/L/S sounds more like old OLP. Old being the operative word. It has more of that loose sounding guitar playing from days gone by, and not the typical riffs that some of the other songs deviate towards. The riff that kicks in about 1 min. 35 sec. in(or after Raine sings the chorus the first time)? Sounds like something from the Naveed era almost to me.

And Where Are You didn't do well here in the U.S.. It topped out at #29. I would think A/L/S could crack them into the Top 20 again though, with... you know, the song being old OLP-esque and all.

Where Are You was a great choice for a single..it's still doing pretty decently, it went up from 35 to 33 on the Alternative Chart in the U.S. this week..that'll be updated later on today as well. If promoted correctly I think this album can be their biggest since Clumsy, in the U.S. It went platinum. It all depends on the promotion, b/c i think it fits in well with the sound thats popluar these days...not to mention it's a really excellent album. Angels/Losing/Sleep could be a really big single..as well as Will the Future Blame Us.

It only took 7 years for Clumsy to reach platinum. :clumsy:

I was at olp.com and it got me thinking. There are 3 songs that are played on the site at the home page which are "where are you" "ALS" and "WTFBU" and it turns out that two of those songs are aready singles, so my guess is that the 3rd single for olp will be "will the future blame us"
which would be awesome!!!
