I will eat my shoe if it doesn't debut on the charts. It's just near impossible for it not to.

If you mean that it won't get high on the charts then I understand.

Today was the first day it was at our record store, and it was #12 on their 20 cd best seller chart for the day so far (hey, that's better than I thought, I bet a bunch of the people I loaned cd's and stuff to actually turned out to like them, lol)

Just an update on this...

HIPT is projected to do around 30000 units in the 1st week in the States. That should put them somewhere between 20-30.

For comparisons sake.... Gravity sold 67000 units in its first week and debuted at #9. SM sold 20000 in its first week and opened at 81. Happiness.... had 1st week sales of 26000 and opened at 69 (that was a really strong sales week..)

Kind of surprised by the low numbers (I thought the core fanbase would be a bit higher..), but I guess it's not that surprising seeing as WAY is not nearly as big as Somewhere Out There was.

Where Are You is at #30 on the alternative(us) chart for the 3rd week in a row..that'll be updated for this week tonight..i expect them to push it to pop radio pretty soon..I dont listen to the radio but it seems like its been a pretty successful single.

if those numbers are correct....I find it sad that Gravity will sell more than double the albums than HIPT. HIPT is so much better.

it's all good, cuz obviously OLP has enough of a fanbase to carry them thru 7 albums, who cares about numbers, as long as each person finds the cd to be as great as it is..

I always find numbers of record sales interesting. And when it is OLP, its ten times as interesting to me. I find it amazing that a day after the record comes out all over the US, they can already estimate record sales.

I bet their record sales will get a huge boost with the release of Will the Future Blame Us? (assuming the band isn't stupid and decides to release it, and also that it gets enough promotion)

I mean, look what happened with Maroon 5. Their first single made a minor splash and their record went pretty under the radar for like a year until they released This Love and of course look what happened.

I like the new Vendetta Red, but the new OLP is better.

debuts are underrated these days. i judge success by concert numbers. ie. look at dave matthews band.

30000 is good for the first week, its better then the majority of the albums did.

Besides, I think this album will turn out to be really well accepted.

Now if only some of those reviewers would start saying some positive things like the majority of fans do.

reviewers are overrated, they're just failed musicians and failed literary writers. well most of them are.

How many concerts?

About 1000 are in the hub database. Plus whatever shows they did in 1992-1994.

Healthy in Paranoid Times debuted at number 45 with 21,000 sold.

hmm, slightly behind the 860,000 kanye west sold.
