Millions of people play that game - we don't see kids everywhere shooting up cops. And about the habitual reflex thing I think that's rubbish. I mean think of all the effort you'd have to go through to kill a cop. You have to leave the house, get a gun, etc. All during that time there'd be plenty of time for you to be conscious of what you were doing. If you do end up shooting a cop that's cause you're fucked up to begin with.

not really. i've read up a lot on criminal profiling. it may have influence the "signature" or the crime, but it didn't influence the motive.

All i know is in this article, this kid killed 3 cops, and played the game excessively, theres gotta be a connection.
Well I can see how it'd be reasonable for a violent murderer to have played violent video games. I mean wouldn't that just be a part of their personality?
However, that's completely different from what you're suggesting which is the cause-and-effect relationship where if you play a violent video game you're more likely to hurt someone. I mean even if it did (I'm sure it'd make you more aggresive in the short term), you'd be conscious of what was happening to you. We're not just black boxes that are completely at the mercy of our environment . And if certain people are, then it'd be likely that they'd end up killing people for some other reason anyways.

First off no video game does NOT cause you to injure/kill people. I think the thing "superrgirll" said is true. That the kid is fucked up to begin with if they go and kill a cop, or do somethinjg stupid like that.
Usually the parents are to balme, because those type of kids do not get any attention from their parents. Usually their parents are always at work, or ignoring their child for some reason.
The parents that blame the game developers is that they don't want thier kid to go to jail. Some people who have kids even blame other people for their kids action, because they don't want their kid in trouble, or they think that their kid can't do that ever but they did, or the parent does not want other people see what their kid actually acts like, and the parent wants to look good in front of other people.
I think this game got even pulled off of the shelves at some stores, because it got changed from MA to ADULT. It is, because of the all the moms out their who are too protective. Which is stupid just because the parents don't want their kids to play the game. Well, let me tell you something. Their kids are still going to play games like this, look at stuff that they shouldn't look at, and still do things that they aren't suppose to do. I wish people start worrying about worst things in this world, and not worry over a stupid video game. People who are too potective really piss me off.
Wow, that feels great to get off my chest.

oh and it can't possibly be a good thing for kids to play games like this
it's common sense.
Sure, not everyone who plays will start shooting up banks in a couple years... hell it'll barely ever happen, but it does happen.
and getting kids this desensitized to violence can't help
Once in a while somebody will be pushed a little too far by video games, television, etcetera, and you can't always blame parents, cause shit happens that they can't control... you just said it yourself.

blah
Shit does happen, but if you read most of the article, papers, most kids who do this kind of stuff are neglected from their parents. Video games are hardly involve with kids killing people.
It is up to the parent to decide when their kid can play the game as well, but they do not need to cause a huge outburst about it if other kids are allowed to play the game.
If their kid goes out, and buy it themsleves then is up to the PARENT to make sure the kid does not buy it. Sometimes people need common sense. It's like what the Our Lady Peace album almost was titled and that is that it just takes an "unusual amount of common sense".
It is not a good thing, but it is not the reason why kids go out and shoot people, it is because they are neglected from their parents and they want attention. I also think parents (mostley moms) worry too much about games like this, and if they don't worry so much they will see that their kids won't go out and shoot people in the head if they play it.

Hah that is the real Naveed.
When the kid killed the cops, he didnt just leave and house and do it. He actually got arrested for doing soemthing else, then while he was being held, took the cops gun and shot 3 of them.
He also addmitted to playing GTA sometimes for 11 hours a day.
Now, like any habit, if you do it consciously enough, it'll become ingrained as a reflex, they loose that common sense element. When he was being held, he said he initial planned to steal the gun and escape, he wasnt planning on shooting them, but he did.
When you kill people in a video game 11 hours a day, it will undoubtibly have an effect.

not necessarily. if you are in the right frame of mind, you will not be influenced by a stupid video game. however, if you are already screwed up to begin with and don't the difference between right and wrong, then yea, the game will influence your actions. but like i said, it will just influence the signature of the crime, not the motive. sooner or later, this kid will have done something violent, but the game influenced him to shot a cop.

Ya, your right about the frame of mind.
Heres the thing, I dont think the kid wouldve killed the cop in just an ordinary sitution. But since he was being held up, he wasnt in that normal state of mind. He didnt mean to shoot the cop, but it became sort of a reflex.
I dont think In an ordinary situation, though, without any motive, an individual can do it. The kid was being held up, and was about to be put in jail for car theft. That was his motive, and thats why those ingrained reflex's caught on.

Just because you played GTA doesn't mean you are not responsible for your actions. People need to stop blaming anything and everything and actually own up to what they did. In the real world there are consequences to you actions. Just because you played a game where there arn't any repercussions doesn't mean that the world actually works that way.

actually Starseed is about him also.. I forgot what level you had to get to to hear thier voices.. One of them told me awhile back..
as for the kids killing cause of games. I hate when society blames anything but the real culprit in this situations. years ago the Heavy Metal band Judas Priest was on trial cause theese two kids committed suicide and the parents blamed the music. Give me a break. My parents weren't home. I let myslef in and out of the house on my own, I listen to all that stuff and I am fine. That is cause my parents taught me values, and I knew right from wrong. These people are messed up to begin with and it is just another person to blame. True sometimes it isn't the parents fault 100%, but you should know what y our kids are doing most of the time..

Whoa Starseed as well? All I know is that it's at least in part based on meditation and "bringing something back from it" and that it got it's name from the book The Starseed Transmissions.
