Promoting local bands

Post by Kicker774 »

In addition to spreading the word about OLP I'm also big into local favorites.
(See: Watershedand LORI)

What do you guys do aside from like posting up flyers or talking abou them on messages boards, to spread the word and promote your local and national favorites?

Thanks in advance for some ideas!

I used to be really into this local band from Philly called Trace Fury. Actually, I still love them, but, sadly, they broke up, so no need to promote them anymore. Anyway, I e-mailed the band to see if I could get their permission to make some CD-R copies of 2 or 3 songs from their LP and I would put the CDs in paper sleves and post them on bullitin boards around my college. I'm not sure how well that worked, but one thing's for sure...it didn't hurt!

Free burned cds is always a help..... as long as the band doesn't suck.

right now i'm promotin a band called kingdead belonging to the guy i'm kinda sorta obsessed with

i sent a copy of his cd to my favourite band. i have his link in my sig. i offer to do cd swaps with other local bands to try and diversify the number of people who hear his stuff. i show everyone i can the movie that they did the soundtrack for.

im planning to print off random posters with these two pictures from his website on them (the dog and the turtle) and post them around the city, in the most unusual places possible so that hopefully some people will jot down the website addy and visit it outta curiosity.
